We went to Wengen to enjoy the Berner Oberland, and our expectations were exceeded!

Best value stay in Wengen

The property was more than expected. It overlooks an amazing valley . Kitchen was great for us to cook in and service and communication was excellent. To top it off we had a White Christmas as it snowed.

Spectacular views

So cozy and quiet home. Perfectly equipped kitchen. 5min walk far you can reach a place with breathtaking view on Lauterbrunnen valley. There are a few sits, so you can make a coffee, go there and enjoy your morning. Highly recommended!

A bit far from the train station, 15min walk. But you are walking through spectacular view and forget about the time.

We would stay there again!!

The kitchen was set up very nice to make your meals & the beds were very comfortable. We did not hear the other guests in their rooms, and for Wengen that price was right!!

As an FYI, the hike to the place is paved, but it is a 20-25 walk. This was good for us, but others may want to take a taxi. It would be nice to have some paper towels in the kitchen to use as napkins

This was a beautiful surprise! Beautiful grounds! Comfortable, clean, peaceful & historical. A short little nature walk to and from town with the sounds of cow bells made us smile every morning! It was a great way to start our vacation!

This is a beautiful piece of peace in the mountains which we will always remember, very special.

It was the details that made it special. The decoration, the lighting, the wonderful big kitchen with so many different things to cook with! The lovely dining room to eat meals or just relax. The beds were super comfortable and good storage space for luggage. It was only a short walk to Wengen and the ability to access walking trails, bike hire or shops so the location was fantastic and such beautiful views. We were shown wonderful hospitality and even given a few suggestions for activities we could do the day we left.

Nothing! We had never thought is staying in hostel accommodation before but sharing a kitchen and a bathroom was fine, we had no issues at all.

Great value for money in a beautiful location

Beautiful location, large room, common facilities had everything you needed, great price. Had a friendly and relaxed vibe. A good base for a few days in the area.

The bed wasn’t too comfortable so I didn’t sleep very well. It should also be noted that while the property was located about 20 mins walk from the main station (which was advertised) the taxis are overpriced to the point of being unaffordable (about 25 CHF for a five minute jaunt down the road) so really your only option is to walk especially if you’re a solo traveller. Not the property’s fault and I haven’t docked any points for it but something to keep in mind especially if you’re spending your days going on long hikes and coming back exhausted.

Environment of the beautiful nature is wonderful.

Pick up service at train station would be very helpful since the distance is quite a lot.

The sound of walking in the room right upstairs was a bit disturbing during the night or early in the morning.

Great value for the area

Very comfy rooms and bed, the kitchen was very nice, and we felt really safe. We loved how it was in a car-free town, because all the other neighboring towns were loud and swarming with cars.

The walk is a little far from the train station, but a taxi also goes there.

Beautiful, comfortable, fantastic views, peace and quiet, spotless, friendly - paradise!

One of the most amazing places we have ever stayed, and so welcoming! The views are unparalleled (don't bother staying down in Lauterbrunnen, or even in the centre of Wengen) and it is lovely and quiet, with just the sound of cowbells and birds. We love walking, and there were some beautiful places to walk from the hostel. The beds are really comfortable, and the pillows are the best we have ever had in any hotel. The hosts are amazing, so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. The well-equipped kitchen was fantastic, with excellent systems in place to keep it all neat, clean and tidy so that everyone can share and enjoy it. Beautiful lounge/eating area, complete with a piano (which pleased this musical family!) The photos do not do this place justice, it really is perfection - I hope to return one day, and I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in this region. Top marks Sonnenhof, fantastic!

Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, every request we made was immediately attended to. We were most impressed with the loving care to all the details of this charming abode. Very quiet and peaceful.

As we were in Wengen for arunning race, we would have preferred to be closer to the station. However for a holiday or breakaway, the location is perfect.

Sonnenhof was truly magical. Very clean, comfortable, and in an incredible location.

We loved everything about this gem. Slightly removed from the center of town so it’s deliciously quiet and wooded. All we could hear at night was the distant sound of cowbells in the mountains. Incredible hiking right outside the door, comfortable beds and super clean, well-stocked kitchen and bathrooms. And a fraction of the price of the overpriced hotels in town. Truly a magical place in a gorgeous part of the world!

Old, small room with shared bathroom. 6/10

There is shared kitchen with all necesasay pots, pans and cups to prepare meals. There is waterfall and stream near the place. Check in and check out was easy.

The place is old, 15 minute walk uphill from the station. The room was very small, had a double bed, and a small table maybe 90 sqft. had 2 windows not much to see, trees were covering any possible view. It was hot, we opened the window flies and butterflies would get in. no air conditioning. we were there 2 nights. One shared bathroom, we didn't feel comfortable using it to shower. we took a taxi to and from the train station for 20 chf each way. It was not worth the money for the stay.

We had a very enjoyable stay and would highly recommend!

The property was immaculate. The kitchen was very well stocked with plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. The short walk from the station was jot a hindrance and was very doable with luggage. We enjoyed the peaceful walk and it allows for seclusion. We were greeted upon arrival and given a tour and recommendations. The bathrooms were spotless.

The room is average but the location is great. If they give you the better rooms, it will have a view as well.

Can there be more places to hang things in the rooms? There were only 3 little hooks by the door but it was not enough to hang multiple towels to dry, much less jackets or other clothes that were wet from the rain. If there were places to hang things throughout the room that would be super helpful!

Comfortable and very pleasant experience.

The value for money can't be beat for Wengen and in general, the Lauterbrunnen valley. The kitchen was big and had all the usual cooking utensils one would imagine. We also met the owners, who were very nice and talkative. The room had a double bed and was rather comfortable!

It's a bit of a trek from the main train station in Wengen, but overall really not too bad. A bit of a hill, but one could just get a taxi.

The property was spacious with exceptional views from the bedrooms. Kitchen facilities and space to cook fantastic. The whole building has so much history and character. Worth the walk from the train station in Wengen. Ideal for trips to Jungfraujoch.

Best place to stay!

I loved this accomodation so much! Me and my partner stayed here for two nights and we enjoyed our stay thoroughly. The hotel is in an amazing location and the walk there is very scenic. There is a farmer not too far away who sells amazing local handmade goods at a reasonable price, as well as a gorgeous lookout point. It has an amazing living/dining room area with comfortable sofas, beautiful wooden furniture and a piano you can play. The whole place is very homey, warm and soulful. We both loved the vibes of it! The shared kitchen is very well equipped, it has everything one could possibly need - even a fondue maker! The hosts are also very kind and helpful. They were cheerful, eager to give us recommendations regarding what is worth to see in the region and to help us navigate the town. This place exceeded all out expectations, and if we're lucky enough to go back to Wengen someday, we already know where we're staying :)

War sehr schön

Stilvoll mit alten Möbeln eingerichtet, Betten trotzdem gut. Dreibettzimmer war geräumig. Küche und Aufenthaltsraum auch gross und gemütlich, Bücher, Sofas, Tischkicker. Auch wenn kein Essen an sich angeboten wird, waren genügend Sachen zum kaufen da (völlig unkompliziert per QR-Code) nicht nur zum Frühstück. Wenn ich besser aufgepasst hätte, hätten wir abends Spaghetti mit Pesto haben können statt ins Dorf laufen zu müssen (wobei die empfohlene Pizzeria auch gut war…). Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis super, sehr freundliche Betreuung.

Es war etwas weit von Wengen weg (ca. 20 Min zu Fuss), andererseits liegt es eben da auch schön.

Persoonlijke aandacht van de eigenaar. Ik mocht zelfs de chalet gebruiken omdat ik langer verbleef en de chalet leeg was.

Een verblijf vlak bij een skilift in Zwitserland blijft prijzig als je niet uit Zwitserland komt.
