The surrounding environment was great and right inside a wonderful valley, sufficient hot water supply and nice staffs.
The property was renovating, one of the toilet was closed and we were staying in a room surrounded by renovation works, the room was smaller than expected, the shared kitchen was dirty.

It was absolutely the worst mattress I have ever slept on or even sat on. The mattress must have been 30 years old and very uncomfortable with old metal springs pressing against your body. When paying such a price for a room I expect a minimum standard sleeping bed and this was absolutely unacceptable. The hotel was as expected, but the beds were horrible. I will not return until after renovations -

Nice location, clean bed sheets, and extra blankets if needed. Overall good cleaning of the place.
You can hear everything — the walls are so thin. There’s only one outlet per room, or at least in ours.

The location was good. Beautiful area surrounded by Mountains and waterfalls.
The walls were paper thin and we had some loud neighbors. Many people using community kitchen and didn’t clean up after themselves well. There were many more people in the building than I expected. We did not see any staff the whole time we were there.

A Perfect location with amazing, breathtaking views ! Room comfortable, hosts and staff were very helpful and friendly, got all the basics you really need for your stay. If you're taking public transport the bus stop is just really 5 minutes walk from the house.

My brother and I stayed at Alpenhof Mountain Lodge in Stechelberg for 3 nights. It was a blessed stay! ⛰️
Everything was clean and the staff also regularly came to take out the trash and clean the floors. You could also easily get hold of them by calling their number if there were any issues. A family staying in the room next to us arrived late at night and were confused about the amount of rooms they had booked. The lodge answered their phone call at that late hour and helped immediately!
The shared kitchen has everything you need, is accessible throughout the night and has enough space to store your items during your stay. It is also a lovely space to meet other guests. We connected with the kindest people that are for life!
Do note that if you don't have your own coffee, you have to pay for coffee pods for the coffee machine, but this is easily done. They have a machine to split bills into coins for this purpose!
The showers do have warm water (a statement I make based on other reviews that mentioned that you have for pay for this, which is not true). You however have to pay the use the clothes washer and dryer.
All and all, a great location with a hiking trail accessible from the backyard and the cable cars close by. (We recommend hiking to the Oberhornsee or surrounds, and grabbing some fruit or nut cake at Hotel Obersteinberg on the way up/down! To die for!) With riveting waterfalls right outside your window, this is a recommended stay for making lovely memories!
Overall nothing!
The lodge is however a wooden structure, so just be aware that you can hear the other guests and they can hear you.
We slept like babies and it did not bother us, but this is just to take note of if you are more sensitive to noise disturbances.

Location was good.
Photos didn't reflect the poor state of the building. The walls and floors are very thin- could hear everything the neighbors did or said. Did not sleep well due to neighbors coming in at midnight (kids having meltdowns), and neighbors slamming doors at 5am.

Location was amazing right at the end of the Lauterbrunnen valley! Stunning views! Close to Schilthorn cable car, so you could get to Murren or Gimmelwald easily. Great easy walking tracks along the base of the valley could walk to waterfalls and through farmland. Great access to the big hikes in UNESCO park as well. Not much else around in terms of shops and eating places - do be aware of that but for us we knew that and loved the location! Although easy to get bus about 20 mins to town of Lauterbrunnen. Bathrooms were good, kitchen had most amenities. Bus 141 was easy to get up the valley, came frequently.

This is fine as a hostel for walkers/hikers/skiers but it is an odd building. Not unpleasantly so, but, for example, in my room there were gaps in the planks in the walls and, if people were so inclined, they could have looked through them.
The sockets in the walls did not fit my adapter plug although it has worked everywhere else in Europe and beyond for many years, so I couldn't charge my phone. Fortunately I brought heavy-duty power packs, so it wasn't a problem.
The internet was pretty non-existent until all the other guests had gone to bed.
The bed was not comfortable. And the room was cold so I used every spare blanket I could find!
However, on the plus side, this was a 15 min walk or less from the Scholthorn mountain cable car, it was cheaper than anywhere else and, as my reason for visiting was to spend the day at my favourite James Bond film location and I was only there two nights, it was fine for the money.
If you're used to camping etc then roughing it for a few nights is fine. I didn't try the showers and sharing bathrooms when you reach "un certain age" is not fun, so if you're older or need privacy, be prepared.
But this trip was all "location, location, location" for me, so it was fine. Definitely not recommended for young families or folk with mobility problems, I'd suggest.
"Peep holes" in walls, plug sockets didn't fit my adapters, uncomfortable bed, cold room.

The location is amazing! And seeing waterfalls from our room.
The bed was tiny and the room was very expensive.
It's extremely loud in that old building. You can hear everyone.
Screaming children. This is not the place for young kids.
You have to pay for the showers.
The kitchen was too busy, and it's hard to be able to cook.
It's really just a very expensive hostel (I know it's Switzerland, but even our $40 campsite had free showers)

The bedsheets were clean. The location is super nice
It was cold and they didn‘t turn the heating on for more than 10-15mins. The kitchen was messy and they didn’t turn on the heating in the dining room for a single time no matter it was raining and all of us were cold

The staff was nice and friendly, I felt like I was at a friend's house.
That was fantastic to read the guestbooks start from 1946.
Showers and toilets were separate and no hot water was on the toilet side.
There might be a small kitchenette in the hall because the guest kitchen was on the basement floor and was a little bit cold but you can cook a festival/wedding meal in there with the whole cooking type of equipment :)

We thoroughly enjoyed the location and bunkbeds for the kids. Very self service. Bring your shower shoes for the community bathroom and they ask that you wear slippers indoors and leave your hiking boots at the entrance.

in a beautiful location, very idyllic. It’s really like a hostel with individual rooms; I felt like I was backpacking again. There was a fully equipped kitchen in the basement. The caretaker was very pleasant.
nothing was opened in the town food- wise because it was a Monday night, so you have to bring your own groceries or be prepared to drive to the next town over for food.

The location is stunning! Easy to find. Everything was nice and clean.
Unfortunately you need exact 1 frank coins for the shower, others will not work.

The setting for the Alpenhof is hard to beat if you love natural beauty. The walls of Lauterbrunnen valley tower above you and there is fast gondola or train access to the high elevations nearby. The "top of europe", the Jungfrau, towers above the house in snow covered beauty. It is especially appealing for families or small groups that want to share communal meals, hike, and tour the mountains in the Jungfrau region. In the Spring, there is a steady sound of mountain waterfalls and snow melt that soothes you to sleep.
The owners are super helpful and friendly and have lived in the area for 20 years. They are native english speakers (helps if your german is nonexistent like mine). There is steady repeat business from people who know what to expect and appreciate the charm of this older, classic guest house.
The Alpenhof is not a luxury resort, it's closer to the experience you might have at a swiss mountain hut. It's for people who want to experience travel that is more self-reliant and rustic. The beds are cozy and comfortable. The showers/bathrooms are simple. The kitchen in the basement is well equipped but basic. The larger group rooms upstairs are warm and comfortable. Since the location is at the end of the valley, a car may be useful. There is reliable mass transit to and from Interlaken, but it is slower than driving, and may not be frequent enough for travelers who want to run into town for groceries or a meal.
The Alpenhof is my favorite place to stay when starting a hut trip or just looking for awe inspiring trips into nature. The gondola to Murren for a walk and some coffee is always a highlight.

Lovely building, staff, and location, far out of the towns but with easy/free transport back into town.
No wifi, which is often a blessing in disguise. Had to pay for shower and shared bathroom, which I didnt mind very much.

I would come back anytime without a doubt and highly recommend the place.
Very, very nice staff that makes you immediately feel at home. Great kitchen for cooking, though in the cellar. The rooms are basic, but with a very cozy atmosphere.
The surroundings and opportunities for hiking around the house are fantastic - fabulous - awesome. Hinteres Lauterbrunnental!!!
You can basically hear everything from the next room, but that is disclosed in the description by the host.
The showers are a 1 € for 5 minutes, which is fine, but you really have to time those minutes well, which is a bit stressful.
No wifi.

It was my fourth time at this place. I enjoyed every momemnt with my friends. We did a hike from Stechelberg “Winteregg loop” and had a Fondue for a dinner at The Alpenhof Mountain House (there is equipment for that). You just need to buy cheese. Diane is such a warm and friendly person. We felt like in a family. She took very good care of us. Until next time!
