San Marco Canal View by Bricola Apartments

Good, central location. Clean, effective air con, lovely view of the canal and the gondolas below.

The air con dripped and left slippery puddles on the floor. We weren’t informed that the checking-in details had changed until we ended up calling the emergency number. Our call was answered promptly and the person we spoke with was very apologetic. Not an issue with the property as such but neither my nor my family’s GPS/4G worked properly and so we walked in circles for a while, trying to locate the property. We eventually asked a local who guided us there.

Spacious rooms, excellent central location, good AC in both bedrooms and living room. Canal view from bedroom windows but one must lean over to see it. Very close to the vaporetto station. We were given very detailed info on how to reach the apartment beforehand.

There are about 50 steps to reach the apartment (roughly the equivalent of the 3rd floor) but it was ok. The pull out couch was not very comfortable but the beds were. All contact with owner was via email and we had to leave the city tax money on the table when we left without getting a receipt for proof of payment (but had no problem in the end).

It was clean. Host was helpful upon arrival with questions about Venice.

We selected this place over others because it had a canal view. Unless you are very tall, you cannot see out of the windows making this not worth it. We had no place to put our luggage. 4 people = 4 suitcases and backpacks on the floor. A luggage stand or shelving in the closets would be nice. The water in both showers fluctuates from VERY hot to very cold without ever touching the controls making it dangerous if you reactively try to jump out of the way, there were no towels in the kitchen- had to go to get from bathroom, from exterior to interior door no light- juggling suitcases and phone flashlight also was not safe or easy going up stairs I have very rarely written reviews like this but this was expensive and we should have been able to expect safety (water and lighting), places to unpack luggage, and blankets.
