The staff were amazing and nothing was too much. The location is great for being in the centre and close to everything.
Yes the lift was out of order for a week, but no issue as the stirs were fine ( i was only on the second floor).

The place was a bit tricky to find, but once I arrived it was easy to check in, with friendly desk staff. My room was compact and had generally good facilities. Although it's on a very busy road, the noise was not a problem and the place was well insulated for both heat and sound.
The tv didn't work at all, neither on the wifi or on terrestrial channels. The kitchen facilities were a little limited and there was nowhere to hang any clothes, but I was only there for a couple of nights so that wasn't a big problem. However, I did expect there to be a working tv as it was mentioned in the listing.
You have to supply a lot of intrusive information just to be able to book, and you also are expected to constantly sign in and out when you enter and leave the building. I guess it's for student safety, but it was an annoying negative to the stay.

Super fast wifi, very warm room (stayed there in January), well equipped kitchenette and good location

It was clean and well maintained. Inside, the corridors were quiet and clean too. The staff at reception were so lovely, warm, and welcoming.
The studio was so hot that I had to have the windows open. With the windows open, all I could hear were people outside screaming and drunk, or traffic going by until all hours of the morning. The mattress and pillows were so thin that I have an aching back and neck.

The property itself was great it was clean for the most part and was nice a close to the main town and stadium
Certain parts of the day the bathroom began to stink bad like bad sewage and it was a bit off putting especially wen the rooms are so small. They had us sign in and out for safety reasons which I don’t mind but there was a good few occasions the shutter was down and no one was there and I’m not going to be waiting around for them to lift the shutter realistically that is on them ! There should be someone there at all times for that reason

Room is in a great location with views of St James's Park stadium. Tesco Metro right outside was very convenient. Easy walk to the town centre. Appliances all function OK.
Room was very hot, with only way to control temperature by opening the window, which then lets in a lot of traffic noise. TVs in the rooms are not connected to any broadcasting services, so you'll need your own entertainment. There is no socket anywhere near the bedstead so you won't be able to reach your phone from your bed if it's charging overnight, or using it as an alarm clock. A bedside light would be nice. Guests are requested to sign in and sign out every time they leave or enter the building. Gets a bit tedious if you are in and out a few times. No access to communal lounge, just the reception area if you want a comfy sofa to sit on.

good location, very friendly staff
it was hot in the room but couldn’t open the window as people were smoking just under it and was smelling in the room

Good location near the city center. Cheap and affordable accomodation. Room had a good kitchen and a shower. Employees at the reception have been very friendly.
No toilet brush in the toilet. A safe or a locker that could be closed somehow in the room would be good as i did not wanted to let my laptop in the room. I had to carry it all the time that i went outside. Also in the beginning i was not able to find the exit, which was actually in the lower ground floor. There was no actual sign that the exit is in the lower ground floor. So a sign would be good to find the real exit better.

The room had a good layout, had good natural lighting from two windows and benefitted from a private ensuite. Most staff were helpful and courteous. The main parts of the room were clean, and the building was clean.
The bed and linens were exceptionally uncomfortable, had no head board and there was a lack of electrical sockets or controllable lighting. The tray provided did not fit the combination microwave oven, rendering this useless. Access was by a side door to the building surrounded by smokers at all hours, and reception asked that you sign into and out of the building every time. On arrival the room had been cleaned but not thoroughly - a book and other small items were left behind - and no safety card/wifi code had been left. Being next to St James meant it was loud very early in the morning, and there was no apparent way to control the heating, leaving the room very cold.

As good as I expected.
Had no gym. It would have been good to be allowed to use the gym at the other student roost round the corner at Newcastle 1. I did ask and the porter did say she would ask, I didn't follow up for the answer, so possibly allowed, but should be known at St
james lodge.

Excellent location for the Sam Fender gigs in St James Park, right next to it, great price for a last minute booking.

A fan would be great for Summer time

Excellent location, a moments walk away from St James'. Room was a good size, and it was great to have a kitchen. View of the city was lovely! Stayed for 4 nights and it did the job for what I was staying for.
Room was absolutely sweltering hot all day and night with no air conditioning, I understand rooms can be very warm in the summer but there werent any staff to alert that I had fainted from the heat multiple times... their 24hr assistance was closed shutters in the reception almost every single time I was there. It seemed the lower floors were cooler but as I was almost at the top it was a heat trap. Had to buy a fan and cooling packs to survive the other 3 nights I was staying.
Music from St James' stack across road was loud until closing (12) but wasn't much of a problem.

Location is fantastic. Staff is amazing and really helpful.
It is good value for money, having your own room, bathroom and kitchen.
The room could have done with some basic items, such as a bedside lamp, hairdryer and some more kitchen utensils.
The shower and fridge had also not been cleaned properly.

Very well located in the centre of the city and walking distance or 2 metro stops of the railway station. The staff are very nice and helpful, they are there 24/7 which is rare these days. There is a Tesco extra, ie grocery store 1 minute from there.
The studio normally for students was spacious enough and well equipped. Newcastle upon Tyne is a very nice city. From there I could go to Durham to see the cathedral and the castle. And Berwick upon Tweed, an amazing small fortified town near the Scottish border.
Nothing, it was a delight to be there.

Staff were friendly and my room was ready earlier than expected. Location was perfect, right next to the stadium and I came for Magic Weekend so generally that's where I wanted to be.

Location. Friendly team. Ideal facilities. Combi oven, hotplate, kettle, toaster, fridge. Shower room clean.
Lift slightly noisy.

The location was very convenient and close to the Tesco if you need an emergency shop. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It was a very welcoming environment.
The place wasn't fully clean on arrival, specifically the bathroom. Other than that, the room was pretty decent. Sometimes, the lights would take a few moments to actually turn on/off from when I pressed the button, but otherwise no complaints!

My stay at Student Roost at St. James Point was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment I booked, I was impressed by the well-structured registration process, which ensured both my safety and the security of the property and its guests. The verification steps gave me peace of mind, knowing that the host prioritizes guest safety and maintains a well-managed space.
Communication was excellent - the host was responsive, friendly, and always available to answer any questions and requests. Upon arrival, I was warmly welcomed, and the check-in process was smooth and efficient. The host's hospitality truly made me feel at home.
The room was thoughtfully designed and fully equipped for a comfortable stay. It featured a mini kitchen with a stove, microwave oven, and a mini refrigerator, allowing me to cook my own meals and experience the city like a local. The space was clean, cozy, and well-maintained.
Safety measures were top-notch. The room was equipped with alarms, fire blankets and emergency exit guides, ensuring that guests are well-prepared in case of any unforeseen events. This attention to detail made me feel even more secure during my stay.
The location was perfect - situated near Newcastle Upon Tyne's top attractions, makit it easy to explore the city's sights, restaurants, and entertainment sports. Everything was just a short walk or ride away, making my trip incredibly convenient.
Overall, Student Roost at St. James Point exceeded my expectations in every way. The combination of safety. comfort, and accessibility makes it fantastic choice for everyone visiting Newcastle Upon Tyne. I highly recommend it and would definitely stay here again God willing!
