The Mountain View, By OP

The communications with Pedro on whatsapp during the stay were very helpful and friendly. The house has incredible views and comfortable beds. There was plenty of room for our group of 5 to cook, do washing, play cards and pool etc. The "balcony room" was beautiful and we spent a lot of time sitting there enjoying the views. Plenty of space for parking (flat drive). Safe and friendly area.

Very spacious property with an amazing view. The host was also very helpful and responsive: a high chair was arranged quickly, and after the mattress for the baby cot was initially not suitable, it was promptly replaced with a proper one.

There is no central heating or air conditioning. During our stay it was very cold/rainy, and only a few small electric heaters were available. The biggest issue, however, was the constant power outages over several days, which significantly affected our comfort. It’s a very beautiful place, but it could use a bit of tender loving care.

Pedro couldn't receive me in person, but he sent me a very clear video instruction, plus messages. The welcoming gift upon arrival was a nice touch. Unfortunately, due to a storm on Madeira, I was unable to make use of 2 out of 4 days at this accommodation, but Pedro was kind and generous enough to arrange for a refund for those two missed days, which I think he didn't legally have to do, so that is outstanding. He also offered me a car rental at a discount, but was so honest to say he couldn't match the offer I already had in the bag from another rental company. The views from the location are exceptional, it's a stunning valley and it overlooks it on almost all sides. The private parking area connected to the accommodation was highly appreciated. It's also a great location to explore the island from. Overall, I'd give it an 8,5, but since that isn't possible, I'm rounding it up to a 9, thanks to Pedro's outstanding help.

While clean, the place could have been just a little cleaner. It got a little chilly after the sun went down, and one electric heater for such a huge place is a bit lacking. Luckily I did bring a warm vest and warm socks. Communication was good, but responses usually took some time/were not very immediate.

The beds were very hard and uncomfortable, as well as the pillows. Also there were not enough towels, one per person with no extra towels
