Situated right in the middle of Wirksworth Friendly staff V good gluten free bread for breakfast Provided early continental breakfast night before as had to be at a meeting early Comfortable bed and excellent shower Lots of character

Parking is very tricky as market place car park gets full during the day - just be warned! Full English cooked breakfast wasn't good ( cheap poor quality ingredients- partner , who works in catering had it one morning, my avo and poached eggs were fine) also coffee not great Bed not made, bins not emptied ( which was more critical as we'd had a picnic supper the first night!) lighting not good in bedroom for reading, make up etc-. A light by the mirror would have helped! ( bathroom mirror steamed up so you couldn't see into it after a shower!)

I'm so glad we found this delightful place. It's a beautiful building full of charm and character. The staff are all absolutely fantastic and the manager Jacob couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. The bed was so comfy we didn't want to get up for breakfast but it was definitely worth it. The full English was delicious and the evening menu definitely didn't disappoint either. The food and service was exceptional. The whole place is spotless and the beer garden is nicely set out to relax in the sun or shelter from the rain in comfort. There were ear plugs in the room in case passing traffic was noisy but we didn't hear anything to disturb us. I wouldn't think twice about staying here again and would highly recommend it.

Unfortunately our room was next to the road and was unbelievably noisy throughout the night - 'like sleeping in the middle of the road' were my husband's words, and he is usually able to sleep just about anywhere. As an instant fix, supplying earplugs is definitely necessary for this room. Sadly we didn't have ours with us and they would have made the world of difference. Longer term maybe some more soundproofing is needed? Our friends stayed in another room which they said wasn't noisy at all, so don't let this put you off booking - just request a quiet room. :)
