Highly recommended for a cosy winter getaway

Really cosy inn with open fires, perfect for a Jan getaway. Our dinner was delicious and the drink selection was superb. Our room was really cosy and clean and tastefully decorated. We got a taxi to the White Peak Distillery nearby for a tour and tasting, a lovely weekend away!

It's a shame that breakfast isn't available.

We returned when the pub was shut had to go through the back garden which was not lit up and was raining and work has been happening so very muddy up fire exit door to get into the hotel part of the building No breakfast for the price of the place was not good value

Premises was shut with all doors locked and no doorbell

I've raised this as a formal complaint investigation several weeks ago. On arrival the premises were shut, with no contact No available to call as reception was poor. I booked into another site for that evening via booking .com. I'm awaiting a refund

Very nice cozy stay

Room was very nicely decorated and a good size. Food and drink in the pub was very nice!

Was a bit awkward about having to go behind the bar to get to the room. There were no instructions on how to leave in the morning as no staff were about. This should be at least written somewhere. Host was responsive in the morning when asked to be fair. The room was also very hot and the green fire route sign in the room is very annoying.

Exceptional staff and a beautiful room.

Beautiful large room with wonderful views over the countryside. The staff were exceptional - making sure we had extra bits in the room as we had our baby with us, allowing us to check in a little bit early and sorting a noisy door so that the slam didn't wake the baby up.

We stayed on a Saturday night and there was quite a lot of noise from downstairs until around 11.30. We had anticipated this, as it is a pub stay.

Awful night’s sleep.

Staff seemed nice enough, food is good and the pub area is cosy

Despite having lovely rooms and nice enough staff, we had such an awful night’s sleep that I will not be returning here. The sound proofing is so bad that it carries up from the pub below to the extent where you can hear the words of people’s conversations and the individual lyrics of the music playing. On our last night the music carried on until 1am despite the pub closing (according to Google) at 11:30pm. When I addressed the issue at 1am, the manager seemed completely unaware of how well the noise travelled between the two floors, and although listened patiently to my complaints, she didn’t offer any apology. Patrons also gather right below the bedroom windows and we heard talking and laughing outside way beyond midnight. There is a storage room right next to the accommodation which is constantly in use by staff throughout the night. As it seems to be a fire door, each time a staff member enters and exits the room the door slams shut loudly and once again makes any form of sleep impossible, especially if you are in the room right next to it. I really felt like there was a complete lack of consideration for those who have paid a lot of money to stay there and their pure focus is on serving customers as long as possible. The food is nice and the staff seem friendly but I would strongly urge anyone thinking of staying here overnight to look elsewhere if you are wanting a good nights sleep.

A really good stay, comfortable and clean.

The room was a good size. Bed was very comfy. Everything was clean. No real criticisms, but a couple of little things... A full length mirror in the bedroom and a shelf in the bathroom would be nice additions.

It wasn't an issue for us but it is worth remembering that this is a pub so there is some noise in the evenings.

Beautifully decorated, clean and the food in the restaurant was excellent

Bit odd that you have to go behind the bar to access the room and only external access is through the fire escape after hours. Would also have been nice to have a breakfast option but I did know that was the case before booking.

Great for a stay over & very friendly staff.

We were visiting friends in the area and just wanted a base for 2 nights. This pub room was great for this. Room was clean, very comfortable bed & good shower. A little on the dark side due to dark paint colour on walls.

Access to the room is either through back of bar or via fire escape… difficult for lugging cases about. Some noise in the bedroom from the bar directly below but all quiet by 11pm so had a very good nights sleep.

Nice room shame about the breakfast.

Accommodation and staff were lovely couldn't fault it.

Booking.com had this property listed as Bed & Breakfast. This was the reason I booked it. There was no breakfast. A representative from the accommodation said they don't do breakfasts and I wasn't the first customer to complain that they had been misled by booking.com. This wouldn't have been a problem if there was a cafe nearby but the accommodation is in a remote location with the nearest breakfast a car ride away. Not happy.

A lovely pub with fabulous staff, still getting established as a place to stay.

The staff were all so friendly - they made effort to chat and give you any advice or information. The food in the evening was delicious. The beer garden sun spot. The interior of the pub is really nice.

No breakfast :( this wasn’t expected as it’s described as a bed & breakfast on booking.com and nowhere on the advert on did it say there was no breakfast. The water went off during our stay so we had to wait in order to be able to use the bathroom. Unfortunate timing more than anything else.

Comfortable room in a relaxing and tranquil setting. Good value for money!

Very pleasant stay at the Bulls Head

Just had a 4 night stay at the Bulls Head. The location was perfect for the places we wanted to visit. Natasha saw us to our room and was very helpful, bringing us extra teas, coffees etc. Room was clean, large and comfortable and shower was excellent, just a little high off the floor!

Just a shame the Bulls Head didn't do breakfasts but there were plenty of places not too far away, so it wasn't a problem.

The room was a good size, clean, tidy, comfortable. Restaurant food was amazing. Great location, short drive from Belper and not too far from Matlock for the activities we had planned. Lovely view.

The room felt quite dark, they've colour drenched walls and ceilings. Poor lighting and no head height mirror in room or bathroom. Noise from pub downstairs, loud music even after closing time and sounded like they moved every single table until 1am on the Saturday night. Definitely pack ear plugs. Had to remind staff to reload tea and coffee despite asking earlier in the day. But quick to respond and friendly service.
