Basic apartment in a fun neighborhood

The bed was comfortable and it’s in a good neighborhood with lots of bars. Coffee was provided.

It was 14° inside the condo when I arrived and the landlord controls the heat, so it took a while to warm up. It is not possible to deadbolt the door without the use of a key and the apartment is on the ground floor.

Good central flat with self check-in (IDs via WhatsApp) required

Location and room setup are good. Flat access is via a self-selected digital code (agreed and set up by the property manager upon payment of the room tax and provision of photo IDs - see below).

Did not like the fact that it took a fair amount of haggling/messaging with this property's owner to be able to check into this property at the earliest advertised time (of 12:00 noon). In the end we got there but it would have been a more pleasant experience to have the property manager agree from the initial request to have the room cleaned and available from 12:00 noon instead of having to debate it directly and with the assistance of Booking.com customer service. In fairness, the property manager agreed to eventually allow this (as is fitting given it is advertised as an available check-in time). In addition, check-in for this flat is "self-service", meaning guests must transmit their sensitive government ID. documents digitally and virtually. Given Italian law requires those documents for checking into hired accommodation and, therefore this property manager and Booking.com require them as well, in practice this means that non-Italians and non-EU must submit digital versions of their passports to this property manager via WhatsApp (!!!). The room tax also requires payment via a separate payment link arranged by the property owner so more admin is required after the reservation is confirmed on Booking.com's website. Given my sensitivity to privacy and cybersecurity issues about this method of relaying IDs, this is of course very far from ideal. However, despite Booking.com's mentioning they could intermediate this ID relay via email, they ultimately and ironically declined to do so on GDPR and data privacy grounds. So, for UK guests, you must relay your sensitive passport photos to the property manager and simply hope that he deletes them properly. In my experience, recognised hotels with human staff available for a manual (not self / digital) check-in process have a decisive advantage in this regard.

Not the best way to finish our trip

Location was good and it was very quiet and easy to access

It was not as advertised - I booked a 1 bedroom apartment with a sofa bed because we needed 2 beds. After check in I was told no, because you only get that for 3 travellers (this was not clear at time of booking). The linen was very old and stained and there were leaks in the bathroom - shower and toilet. To top it off we had to check out at 10.30 when booking says 11 and there was no left luggage option

We had a great stay at 50 Tourist House. The location was excellent—about a 15–20 minute walk to the city center, close to the train station, and surrounded by some nice bars and restaurants on the same street. Both bedrooms had air conditioning, which was a lifesaver in the summer heat, and the apartment itself was very quiet—you couldn’t hear the street at all. The host was also very responsive and easy to communicate with.

The main downside was the mosquitoes. The back patio wasn’t really usable because of them, and when we first arrived there were a few inside, likely from airing out the apartment before we got there (not really the host’s fault, but worth mentioning). Also, since we cooked almost every day, it would have been helpful to have a proper kitchen knife instead of just butter knives.

Parfait !

Le logement est très bien équipé et bien situé. À 10min à pied du centre ville. Les équipements sont propres et le logement est bien aménagé. Il y a la climatisation, et même une petite terrasse très agréable à l’arrière.

Thriller !! Non aprite quella porta!!!

Una topaia. L’appartamento si trova in un quartiere é impossibile non camminare sulla urina dei cani che vengono portati a a spasso. Si accede al palazzo e si cammina in un cunicolo buio dove fa paura anche passare. L’appartamento non era stato pulito e le foto lo testimoniano. Capelli sui cuscini, cottonfioc qua e la, zanzara spiacciata sulla mattonella del bagno… Inoltre il gestore mi ha chiamato più volte per paura che non pagassi la quota di soggiorno. Manco fossi Lupin. Insomma una esperienza che spero altri non vvivano.
