Bakar Nubian Guest House

I stayed two nights in this guest house with my sister in june 2026 (the weather is extremely hot but the room has a good A/C). The view over the Nile and the location (both in Aswan and on the island itself) are indeed wonderful and very practical. Breakfast is the egyptian-type (bread, omelette, salad, cheese and tea), and was very tasteful. I have been living in Egypt for the whole year and have stayed in a couple of hotel/ guest houses during this time; from my experience I can say that the room and the bathroom were very clean and quite comfortable compared to other places. We met only one host who was nice and accommodant to us ; he booked us a trip to Abu Simbel in a shared mini-van (leaving at 4.00 a.m in the summer) for an acceptable price. The island is quiet and peaceful at night, lively and joyful during the day.

For the sake of honesty, and although I found the guest house perfectly suitable and beautiful (rooms have a wonderful ceiling in bricks, and a nice touch of decoration), I must mention that the rooms do not match the description on the website (as a previous comment also stated) : they are small (15m2 I would say), have no storage furniture and no desk, the balcony is shared with the two other rooms and not individual. Drinkable water is not included (you can take a bottle in the common fridge for 10 EGP for the small one and 20 EGP for the bigger, which is a normal price but can be a bit annoying since you are not guarrantied to find one). The pictures are however trustworthy. For us this was not a inconvenient as we stayed for a short time and were not looking for something very spacious, but I think the description would benefit from being updated, as it could prevent some guests from being disapointed. I would recommand it for casual and outgoing travellers who are looking for a real and cute "guest house" rather than a more private hotel room.

The house is super clean and the host is very hospitable and kind. The rooftop is with amazing view of the Nile river. Host could help us book an early morning motor boat for us to catch the tour to Abu Simbe and packed the breakfast. Just walk 10 minutes to the other port and there are several tasty restaurants. 😋

O hotel fica na ilha Elephantine, adoramos cruzar o Rio Nilo com o public Ferry de apenas 1,5 reais e tem uma vista incrível no hotel para o Nilo no rooftop, onde tomávamos um café da manhã delicioso todos os dias. Reservamos os passeios com eles também, e sempre nos levavam até o transporte com lancha própria, muito cômodo. Foram sempre muito atenciosos. Adoramos a arquitetura Nubia da acomodação, que foi confortável

Um ponto de atenção, casais precisam apresentar certidão de casamento, senão não poderão dormir no mesmo quarto. O Wi-fi era lento.
