I spent two nights at hooly nubian during a 12 day trip to Egypt, and really enjoyed the change of pace that Elephantine Island offered after the busyness of Cairo and being bombarded by person after person looking to squeeze some money out of me in Luxor. The facility is simple but clean and comfortable, and the setting along the Nile River is lovely. My second evening, I rented a kayak from hooly nubian to go out on the river around sunset, and that was one of the more peaceful moments I had during my time in Egypt. Would highly recommend that if the loud boat cruises aren't your thing. I had a room that opened onto a balcony of sorts overlooking the Nile, and that was a nice place to spend a little while after sunset in the cool of the evening. Ahmed responded quickly on Whatsapp and was helpful in arranging shared transportation to Abu Simbel, and the boat to take me back to the mainland on my departure day was on time. He also provided some other recommendations, which were appreciated. I thought hooly nubian was a pretty good value for the price and can recommend it for a stay of a few days. I wasn't sure how I would feel about needing to take a boat ride to get anywhere, but that ended up being only a pretty minor inconvenience and being in a beautiful and peaceful location was worth it.

The staff was very friendly, easy to reach when we needed something and always happy to help! Also the guy who was driving the boat was always on time and had a kind smile on his face. The view from the rooftop was great and I liked the location of the house as well (it was located on a little island, so you had to take the boat to visit different places).

When we arrived there was a strike, so there was no water in the house, but that was resolved in a couple hours. Also, the bathroom was a bit dirty.
