Beautiful room, lovely view, very comfy bed with quality snuggly bedding.

Liked · Beautiful room, lovely view, very comfy bed with quality snuggly bedding. Well equipped space and the stairs are a great workout so if you have mobility issues this place is not for you. We loved it though, right at the top of the house at the top of the hill.... just amazing.

Disliked · The downstairs apartment was particularly noisy, slamming doors, shouting on the stairs and the kids running around like a herd of elephants from 730am on a Saturday... not the hosts fault but really ruined a lovely stay. The only negative about the flat is the bathroom was freezing as it only had a tiny towel rale in there and even with it left on all the time it still was bitterly cold.

It was a stunning location. I got to enjoy the view of the town and hills at different times of the day in rain, fog, sun and snow. Even when the weather outside was bad the property felt cosy and cheery. Kate and Mark were also super nice and helpful.

Beautiful place with stunning views 😍

The Birds Nest is the most beautiful use of a small space. Hosts were very friendly & welcoming. Loved the little added extras - milk, water, tea/coffee, treats etc. It was so cosy, had the most amazing view overlooking Matlock, had binoculars so we could look further. Had all your appliances, kettle microwave, toaster and induction hob and all cutlery, pots, pans etc. Bed was so nice, had a really good night's sleep, the duvet & pillows were super soft. We did not use, but in the hallway they had a range of dvd's, games, tourist/takeaway leaflets to use and take to your room. Could borrow umbrellas and had these cute little slipper shoes. Welcome folder had all info you needed for your stay. The hosts Kate & Mark really have put alot of effort to go above and beyond for their guests. Would highly recommend staying and we will definitely return ☺️

Absolutely nothing we didn't like! But if you're tall just be mindful due to being in the loft space, it has low ceilings. My husband learnt the hard way and kept knocking his head! Which I found hilarious Ha ha

Great views over Matlock from a comfortable apartment.

We were given a warm welcome in person by one of the owners. Comfortable, clean accommodation with a lovely view over Matlock The compact kitchen area has plenty of plates, cutlery and utensils. There is a combined oven and microwave as well as a portable induction hob. The king sized bed was comfortable. Nice fluffy towels in the bathroom

Perfect!

The views were outstanding. Location perfect as close to where my friend stays. Bed was very comfortable. The hosts add lovely touches, milk in fridge, chocolate, biscuits, tea coffee etc. clean, tidy, and homely feel.

It was a lot of stairs, therefore not good for anyone with mobility issues. But the view is worth it!

We really felt welcomed and greeted by the owner. The room was delightful, clean, comfortable and we had everything we needed for our stay and more. The view is genuinely stunning and we enjoyed every minute.

Breath-taking views and a pleasure to stay in a lovely apartment with everything you needed.

The whole experience was pain free from booking to arriving, the Birds Nest was a lovely place to stay with outstanding views. Parking was laid on and various treats greeted us, milk, chocolates and snacks. The away break was just what the doctor ordered to coin a phrase. Mark the host was even kind enough to carry luggage up to the room for us.

Could not fault it in any way, Kate & Mark checked that we had no problems which was nice of them.

The view was stunning, bed was amazingly comfy and we had a great nights sleep. The property was clean and tidy with all amenities within it. Kate and Mark are very friendly and resolved an issue immediately (although it was us who wasn’t using the shower correctly!) The area is beautiful and plenty to do close by. Would definitely recommend and would use the facility again.

Birds Nest - Jackson Tor House

We were greeted on arrival by Kate and she was really friendly and told us how to get in touch if we needed anything. The room has a beautiful view and you can see really far. My husband described it as the best view we've had. It's so peaceful and quiet, and a lovely room with lots of space. It has everything you need, all you need is yourself!

Lovely weekend away.

Clean, comfortable, cosy and quiet. Kitted out with everything you could need. About 15 minutes walk into town and if you don't fancy the hill on the way back £4 in a taxi. Two pubs within 5 minutes walk also. Oh yes and that view 😊

Lovely place to unwind

Wonderful location and view. Was spotless and well furnished. Lots of lovely little touches. Hosts really nice and very helpful when we thought we'd left something there (which we hadn't after all!).

Don't accidentally drive up Jackson Tor Rd. It's a narrow dead end on a steep hill and you get stuck. Residents there were lovely though ;-)

Very difficult to find any faults at all with this property. The only thing it lacks is an oven if I’m to be picky but genuinely this was one of the best places we have stayed for a weekend getaway in a long time

Stunning views, clean throughout nice touches i.e. tea, coffee and sugar etc.

No hot plate to cook breakfast, not suitable for people with health issues i.e. fybromyalgia stairs very steep witch needs to be clear on advert. Not suitable for our needs but recognise that the accommodation would suit walkers who need just a base.

Absolutely wonderful with amazing views, we booked birdnest for a little getaway. Hosts was nice enough to set up some decorations with a bottle of champagne for my partners 30th. It was very clean with added extras biscuits chocolate milk and bottle water. We was greeted as we arrived by the host Kate and Mark they was friendly and helpful.

A fantastic find!

We had a fantastic weekend. The communication from the owner was excellent, and we were welcomed by a neighbour who helped us with bike storage as soon as we arrived. The flat is beautiful, well furnished and with plenty of storage space. The views from the Birds Nest are stunning, and the location is great - We will definitely return!

Lovely relaxing stay with every comfort provided

Everything about the apartment which was sunny and bright - comfort, location, views, cleanliness, amenities was perfect. Quiet location. Not sure if the other apartments were occupied but it was very quiet. Lovely touch that the hosts left some milk for a cuppa plus tea, coffee, sugar etc. Lovely fluffy towels, great shower and modern well laid out bathroom. Plenty of hot water. Good WiFi signal. Bed was super comfy, we slept like the proverbial logs!! The view over Matlock from lounge window is superb. Location to trips out/places of interest was good, so not lots of driving. Lots of good restaurants within a few miles if you fancy a drive or long uphill walk back, but we went to the Duke of Wellington pub (a level walk from the apartment) - took about 10 minutes so we were able to have a drink. Good size parking place with easy access.

Nothing about the apartment at all, it was perfect. However, if you come from a relatively flat part of the country like we do, going out without the car is quite demanding on the leg!!!

An amazing 2 night stay we didn’t want to leave!

We had a 2 night stay last weekend here and we absolutely loved it. We wanted a break away to explore Matlock and Chasworth and go on walks and the location was perfect, we struck gold with the weather and Birds nest was everything we could have wished for. I especially loved the fact there was a dvd player and we could pick dvds to play and there were a selection of games to play also, made it feel really homely and took me back to childhood and trips as a child, just what I needed for a little escape from the madness of life thank you. The views were amazing (we loved the edition of the binoculars), the bed was really comfy, the little electric stove that’s supplied was easy to use, all the cooking essentials. The milk and chocolate upon arrival was a lovely touch as well as shower gel and a hairdryer. Another thing I loved was when having a shower there was a window you could look out of at the view which at night especially felt so peaceful. Great communication from the hosts and really helpful. We would return here in a heartbeat.

Not a huge issue for us but just a pre warning incase you have mobility issues because it was the top floor there were quite a few stairs upto the property and we had to duck when walking round the outskirts of the apartment because of the ceiling, if this is an issue definitely pick one of the other 2 lower apartments as I can imagine they are just as good as birds nest but more suited to you!

The property was lovely and the views were amazing. Very comfortable bed and just the perfect place to unwind for a couple of days. When we arrived there was even a pint of fresh milk in the fridge. We will definitely book again.

Lots of nice touches from board games to biscuits

Lots of steps so not for older people. Room is at the top of the building so I did find myself ducking a lot as in the roof space. Wasn’t a problem but might be for others

Will Return.

We loved its location; stunning views and in walking distance of friendly pubs and deli. We really did have a birds eye view of Matlock and the imposing Riber Castle on the top of the hill. As night time came, everthing all was quiet and the lights twinkled in the valley...magical. We also appreciated the cleanliness and attention to detail, making it a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.
