Woodfield Retreat

One of the best locations I've ever stayed with!!! Lots of positive emotions from the trip thanks to this. Just very tasteful, pleasant, wonderful room to stay in. Great location, great communication with the owners too. I would love to be back!

Having some spare towels beyond 2 available would be great! A friend accidentally dropped one in the wet bath and I ended up having no towel, sadly it was also too late in the night to bother anyone.

Comfortable bed Close to the centre of Matlock Fine for one night

Tight parking on 45 degree slope and need to reverse out onto main road Overwhelmingly strong plug in air freshener (instant headache) Very noisy road and too hot with window closed Not very well lit in room (where mirrors are) too dark to put make up on or put in contact lenses Felt cramped for 2 people

Really friendly host, messaged us during the stay if we needed anything and also where a heater was incase it was cold. Quick to answer too, as we needed to check on the parking spot when arriving. The parking spot instructions could be made a bit clearer since it’s just a bit of grass next to a raised curb next to a sign saying no parking. But enjoyable stay in a small and quirky studio. Clean, comfortable and lots provided for us. Perfect for a night or 2 max for us.

We didn’t notice the lack of shower head with the bath tub from the photos, which made showering a bit difficult, but we managed. The bathroom sink also drips outside of the basin a lot which was frustrating at first. The bathroom matt to step out on was also covered in small hairs, presumably someone had shaved/trimmed over it and didn’t shake it out after and it wasn’t cleaned before our stay. Luckily I shake it out over the bathtub before I shower, and it was covered in the hairs. Apart from that, everywhere else was really clean

The hosts were very responsive and from the space available in this very small room, have provided lovely comforts, a very cosy space: delightful furnishings. Lovely sheets and bed, and a claw bathtub. The information in the books on the shelf in the toilet were interesting and useful. The buns, butter and milk in the small portable fridge were a nice touch;) The room was warm and the bath was lovely. It is also really close to the main street and relatively quiet. The TV was good, with access to Netflix.

The low score on this review refers to the fact that the information available in the listing did not accurately indicate how small it was. It was very cramped for two people. There is no separate bathroom. It is a toilet in a wardrobe - very cool and unique, important for the toilet to be secluded, but there is no bathroom. The kitchenette is a microwave, kettle, toaster, and mini portable fridge on a set of drawers. It is cute, but there is nowhere to wash up, dish soap, or tea towel . You need to use the small basin next to the bath. Unfortunately there isn't much room for two people, with suitcases in this very nicely decorated room. It was cramped, and the bed was the only place to sit down inside. The images shown in the listing do not include an image of the overall space, only images of various parts. To be transparent of the space, an overall image needs to be included so guests know exactly what the space looks like. If this was the case, and it was made clear there was no bathroom, only a separate toilet, we would have selected a larger space. There is only one coat hanger and limited space to store clothing: no drawers or wardrobe. For guests who typically shower, just note that the bathtub is the only way to wash. This accommodation would suit guests with very little luggage. If you were looking for a kitchenette to have more than beverages and small snacks (such as toast, cereal, etc), this kitchenette would not adequately cater for that.
