Two Four Four, holiday home in Matlock

Great property, had everything we needed but also lots of lovely little touches from the host.

Nothing it was perfect

Facilities were great, host had thought about the little things that matter such as tea, coffee, milk in the fridge, shampoo and conditioner. We had everything we needed to cook and clean after ourselves. House was comfortable and had all we needed. We travelled with a pet and the garden was perfect for him, there were even bowls and a ball for him to use which we have never had anywhere we been and therefor always carry our own. Location was great, plenty of places to walk and eat out (host had a voucher for a local pub in the welcome pack with which we had 40% off, what a win!). Loved the seating in the garden meaning we could relax outside in the sun pretty much any time of the day.

It was very hot upstairs to sleep, even with all the windows open, mind you we were visiting during a particularly warm week so not something the host has controll over and there was a little fan and lighter duvet available. Stairs were very steep, we are a young active family so did not have an issue with it but some might. Our dog lost his footing on it a few times before learning to go slower. Parking is street parking at the next street, this may be inconvenient to some. There was never an issue finding parking so we did not really mind. My husband was put off by the road noise through the night as the property is by the road. With the window shut it may have been ok but unfortunately it was too hot for us to close it.

The property was only a 15 minutes walk into the centre of Matlock and there was a bus stop almost directly outside with regular buses running between Derby and Buxton. The property was clean and comfortable with all modern appliances you would need and the view across the moor from the lounge was superb. We appreciated the small touches by the host like leaving milk, tea bags and biscuits.

The side-street we parked in (Stanton Moor View) was crowded and very steep - that said we left the car there for our 5 day stay and used the public buses and we didn't experience any problems with the local residents.

The stairs are quite steep but this can’t be helped. Just something to be mindful of with children and elderly
