Good location in Zaandam

Nice location a short walk away from Zaandam station. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, and the complimentary cocktail voucher was a nice plus!

Between booking and checking out, I received about a dozen emails from Monument hotel - that felt quite excessive!!

Nice place would request a room away from the bar

Good location

The rooms were very cramped and our room was above the bar. The noise was minimal until midnight when the music became very loud and impossible to sleep due to the noise and vibration from the bass for several hours.

Disappointing experience

The location

The safe and TV did not work and they were unable to fix them. The room was not made up 1 day. Just clean towels on the bed. Reception was not manned as was stated on the website. We were not offered any solution. The whole experience was very disappointing. We will find alternative accommodation when next visiting Zaandam.

It’s was convenient for my stay but wouldn’t stay there again due to noise (mostly Saturday night).

Saturday night was like sleeping in a nightclub. Eventually got to sleep at about 3.30am. There is no actual lobby and have to ring for reception.

It was clean and comfortable , 11 minute walk from station. Good value for money.

The toilet was uncomfortable, there was no sink in the toilet. The fridge was tiny. The lighting was very dark and our room was next to a venue playing very loud music until approximately 1am. We ordered room service which never showed and when asking staff for a refund, we were told to email and they would review the email to determine whether they would honour a refund… this would take roughly 5-10 working days

Loud nightclub outside playing till 4:30am, drunks yelling in the street, some broken room fittings

Within walking distance to the train station.

Had a nightclub and DJ firing loud music until 4:30am right outside my window. Couldn't get a wink of sleep. A 3am street fight. Drunk people yelling as they left the nightclub. 4 star hotels should at a minimum guarantee you a night of sleep. Couldn't change rooms because the hotel was fully booked. The ambiance around the hotel has more in common with a party hostel. As for the room the AC didn't work, had it on heat setting at 30c and max fan and couldn't feel any warm air. Half the blinds in my room were broken. Oh yeah there is also never anyone at the reception.

Not for families

The beds were a good size but other than that it was a very average stay

Don’t stay on a weekend if you have children - my own fault for not doing research but there is extremely loud music on Friday and Saturday from 10pm - 5am and the hotel is not very sound proof Also have a lift to the first floor but then more stairs with no lift or ramp access The sink is in the room itself and toilet and shower are I their own spots very odd placement Hardly any staff, front desk is always empty Pillows are very flat and uncomfortable Basic amenities are not there and the fridge is so small you can probably just fit a chocolate bar

Room not very clean and shower clogged. No real reception, more like a hostel setup. Smell in the corridor was absolutely terrible, very strong smell of sewage which the staff said was due to the rain.

Good location, friendly staff who did their best to assist even though he was the only one on duty. The room was fine.

The bathroom drain was clogged, causing the water to pool and almost flood the bathroom, which made showering very uncomfortable.

The rooms are modern and clean, and the hotel is in a great location in Zaandam.

The breakfast is served in the hotel’s restaurant. It was decent, but service took longer than expected. It seemed like the team was a bit understaffed.

Nice Boutique Hotel in very convenient central location in Zaandam

The family room has an upstairs area with a double bed which was quirky and unlike many Hotels there was loads of storage for clothes and luggage. We were rear facing so nice and quiet. Front facing looks onto the main Square which might be a bit noisy on busy nights. Breakfast was excellent (not buffet, a la carte only). 10-15 mins walk from the Train Station which was doable pulling a suitcase. Clean, modern interior decor.

No gym if that is something you are looking for and the front desk is largely unstaffed. You press a buzzer to get someone and it did seem like you were inconveniencing them! Unfortunately this seems to be the way of the world. Steep staircase from ground floor so be careful if not taking the Lift.

Probably was great it’s very noisy in the evening outside but when you get into your room, it’s very quiet triple lie Windows which is great staff was good. Breakfast was great.

Don’t stay here on Saturday (or other nights when the bar is open).

Nice location, beautiful rooms

Our first night was on Saturday and it was impossible to sleep because of the loud (I mean very loud) music from the bar until 4 am. The noise made it very difficult for our family to rest, and significantly affected the quality of our stay. I believe the hotel should mention it in the description otherwise it's a false advertisement.

Lovely location, central but unfortunately our AC was not working and our room was a sauna.

location is wonderful!

AC was not working. It was a sauna in the room and we did not sleep at all. We called the front desk and they told us to be patient that it would start working. I told them I could not hear any sound and he told me that was normal.

Great room, terrible location above a noisy bar.

The room was fantastic. My teenage daughter had her own space in the loft.

I hated that this hotel is over a bar and on the weekends they blast their music until 4 am. That is no exaggeration. The bar extends outside so the music was coming from right outside our window. The bass bumping until 4 am when you are jet lagged is awful.

If 0 stars were possible, that’s what I’d give – terrible treatment I stayed one night at Monument Hotel with my girlfriend, along with two other couples. The room was fine and the location good, but everything went downhill during checkout. I specifically asked in the morning if I could check out later, and I clearly said I was willing to pay extra. I was offered a late check-out until 1:00 PM for €35, and I accepted. Later at reception, I discovered that both of the other couples we were with received larger rooms and got to check out at 2:00 PM, also for €35. I brought this up to the staff member (who said he was the manager), but he said there was nothing he could do. No explanation, no solution, no refund — just indifference. Honestly, if zero stars were an option, that’s what I’d give. Even one star feels too generous for how unfair and unprofessional this experience was.

4 Nights Family Stay

The location is good and near Zaandam central where you can take a short walk to see the iconic building. it's also near a few supermarkets and have quite abit of eateries option. shopping wise, most of the shops are close at 1800 though.

Our family just doesn't feel that we have the a hotel level of support. It's very disappointing that for a 4 nights stay, our room wasn't cleaned for 2 days. on the first day, we were told that we didn't put up the sign which I still feel it's very weird that housekeeping is not the default option. but on the second day, our room still isn't cleaned even with the signage put. while the staff at the reception is apologetic for it, there isnt any housekeeping to do the clean up when we realise it then evening time. generally, the level of support doesn't feel like that of a hotel. we barely see anyone at the reception most of the time.

Automatic check-in process took me an hour. I paid for early check-in and found that the room was not cleaned. The hotel is right at a street full of bars, which is very noisy at night. I have to use ear plugs every night.

the room was clean and comfortable. food in the restaurant downstairs is very tasty. Children were happy to have a second floor in the room.

Comfortable accommodations

Great layout for a family that is a rare find with some hotels. There was a ton of storage space in the room so things didn't feel thrown about and disorganized for a long stay. The bathroom being divided into a toilet and shower room with a sink in the main room was nice for everyone to have privacy and use simultaneously.

Bring your own shampoo, only conditioner and body wash provided. One morning during our stay the water was turned off for maintenance without notice, luckily we had all finished showers and getting ready but that would have been really unfortunate. Assuming it was an emergency fix, but some communication would have been appreciated.

Everything was great except the black furniture in the room, it makes the room darker, lights are not enough to see the inside of the wardrobes. And one more thing, it is not possible to open the windows, to get sone fresh air, it is necessary i guess.

Exceptional

Zaandam is a lovely, quiet neighborhood, family friendly. Close to Amsterdam by train and to Zaanse Sachs to see the windmills. We could leave our bags at the hotel, after checkout, with no additional charge.
