Build a beautiful resort village on a favorite Hatteras Island location, and they will come. The Cottages at the Cape are the closest rental units to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. They share a long border with the national park and are literally steps from the beachfront. Bring the bikes, because Buxton’s unique shops, restaurants, and lighthouse are all very close. Forget the 4WD vehicle - those in the know have discovered that the three jetties to the east of the cottages produce some of the best fishing, surfing, and swimming on this island. Walking to the south will take you to open beaches, the famed Cape Point, and if luck is on your side during the summer, a few sea turtle nests (be careful to stay outside the barriers). The interior has been professionally-decorated with comfortable and fun beach décor. The screened-in porch is a great place to enjoy a cup of morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. You'll have access to an outside shower and a patio, and there are plenty of appliances, counter space, and cabinet storage in the full kitchen. The living room is a great place to enjoy a movie night with friends and family after a fun day on the beach. An escape to the cape never looked so good as at Cottages at the Cape.

You will be required to sign an additional lease agreement upon making a booking which will be sent to your email. You will not be able to check in until we have received your signature electronically. Please contact us directly if you do not receive this agreement.
Guests have access to the Club Hatteras Pool Facility. Additional details about this facility will be shared in your check-in email and during the check-in process. The club is typically open from mid-May to mid-October, depending on the weather.
If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us.
Parking notes: There is free parking available for 3 vehicles.
Due to local laws or HOA requirements, guests must be at least 25 years of age to book. Guests under 25 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the reservation.

The ocean view was a sliver between two buildings in our cul-de-sac. The shared pool was a 15 minute drive up the road to the next town. The master bathroom sink was detaching from the wall and did not drain properly (we were almost afraid to use it). The door trim would fall off every time you opened the kitchen cupboards. Not enough towels. No blankets except the quilts on the beds. The master bed was comfortable, but the rest were sagging with broken slats. The spare bathroom shower either sprayed directly at the curtain or directly at the wall making it hard to clean yourself and water ended up all over the floor each time. (we used the outside shower instead). There were no large pots and only one melted spatula. There was no place to set anything down if you were grilling (need a table or something out there). The screen on the back porch was completely torn which would have been dangerous if we had small children. And we couldn't lock the back door and had to prop a chair up against it each night.We were a 5 minute walk to the beach which was beautiful, clean and never crowded. There was plenty of room for our family of 6. The elevator was helpful moving in and moving out.

The house and location were wonderful. The only downside was the lights in the hallway and stairwell didn’t always work. This made it tricky going up and down the stairs at night. Overall the house was well kept, there was a thick layer of dust on the top of the microwave.

Exactly as advertised. The microwave was broken and I texted in on the issue and service was immediately rendered. Amazing customer service. The lighthouse behind the house was an amazing view - it is under construction though so it was all boarded up. My daddy serviced the lights in that lighthouse over 50 years ago when he was in the US Coast Guard. He was with us to see the lighthouse again.
