This room had all the amenities it advertised. Bed quite comfortable.

Quite a lot. I think the owner should stay here for a night or two and audit their own experience - it might help improve the space. Firstly, the room wasn't the room I selected from pictures (first red flag) - it appeared to be one of three available rooms. It is located on the ground floor of a not-great apartment building, facing a large courtyard where people would congregate at all hours - often directly in front of the frosted windows, since there is what appears to be a countertop ledge outside, like the place used to be an ice cream shop or something. The problem is that the windows are the only ventilation so you have to keep the upper ones open which means you listen to conversations (and enjoy the accompanying cigarette smoke) happening less than 3' away. The room appears to be an old commercial space divided up into rental rooms. The divider wall and entry door are so thin you can move them by leaning on it. There is no view outside other than the light through large frosted windows that have a steel rollup shutter you can close - it makes you feel like you are in a bunker. There are large cracks in the paint/plaster in several spots indicating the issue with humidity - when we first arrived the room was really musty, and the host gave detailed instructions about opening the upper windows and using the portable dehumidifier which pretty much tells you its an ongoing issue. The kitchen amenities are cramped, and pretty cheap. The fan and light for the stovetop do not work - and do not appear to have ever worked. There is NO storage for clothing other than a coatrack with 3 hooks. You will be tripping over your luggage like we did the entire time. The water heater is set to WAY beyond scalding - be VERY careful in the shower as you could really burn yourself if you accidentally move the tap. Oh, and the toilet runs on -their solution was to put a water shutoff tap within easier reach, rather than fix the toilet? Avoid this place.
