Great location, perfect for exploring the whole of the Lake District. The rooms were also of a good size. It’s a good property if you want a functional base to stay in.
The kitchen utensils need updating, the knifes were shockingly blunt and just not much in way of basics like salt and pepper etc. Also no bedside light in main bedroom. No welcome book with any instructions for heating etc and no outside chairs to sit outside in the sun (shown in promotional photo).

Lovely old character in the building on an estate grounds. Gorgeous garden overlooking the river. Comfortable beds.
The main road to pass over to the garden is on a very fast and busy place. This was not made clear in the advertising/photographs.
The whole cottage is in need of some tlc with both deep cleaning and attention to detail. The utensils are plastic and worn, the knifes are blunt, the duvet was stained. The bathrooms are good but again need a bit of repair to grout and stained tiles. Some damp issues to repair and finally a new boiler required. The central heating did not work at all and it was cold and damp. Once I notified Sykes, British Gas were sent and got it going but looking at previous reviews it's been an ongoing problem.
All been said, I think this would be a gorgeous retreat if a little love was put into it.I also think that the main road should be explained as for children, dogs and older people it is not ideal. .

Nice location - easy to walk into Ambleside or set off on other walks without having to take the car. Nice lounge and kitchen areas
Needs cleaning more thoroughly. Also this is the first time I’ve ever stayed anywhere and not had bedside lamps on the bedside cabinets - basically because there’s no power sockets at either side of the bed. Having a light switch inside the room rather than on the landing would also be beneficial

Location
When we arrived, the apartment was very cold and humid. The heating wasn’t working. We complaint. Someone came to check on it, by the time someone came we were out. When we arrived back there was a note saying the heating was fixed but it wasn’t. There was no central heating for the entire stay what wasn’t very pleasant.
The apartment was very dusty plus it is very close to a very busy road, extremely noisy.
