Excellent location. Comfortable surroundings. Wonderful to be so close to the road yet have the wild garden to look out on. A friendly robin came to visit each morning. Fantastic transport links for the centre of York. A short walk from the local shop for basics and the usual takeaway food. There's a couple of cafes and bars with light bites/sharing platters on offer.

We have previously rented Tawny Lodge for a short break and so had high expectations of our stay. Many of the issues raised during our last stay have been resolved. The range of kitchen utensils for example. Unfortunately, we have been slightly disappointed with the general state of the property on this occasion. The standard of cleanliness has dropped considerably. Visible spider/ dust webs were in all rooms. I dropped an earring in the bedroom and my hand was covered in dust after retrieving it. The bathroom corners had been missed during cleaning as the sink pedestal has numerous dust/cobwebs everywhere that would have easily been dealt with.(Not that it bothered us, but there's a few spiders in residence) It would seem a previous rental had broken some glass/ crockery and whilst it has obviously been cleaned. Both myself and my partner ended up with small pieces of whatever the item was in our feet. The throw on the bed smelt stale and on closer inspection had dried food? on it. The balcony area is in need of a good sweep and the patio chairs were rendered unusable due to the thick layer of sticky tree sap covering them. This was a shame as the weather was ideal for an al-fresco glass of wine.
