A good night's stay

Check in was really easy - I did this online and collected the key from the bar inside the pub. The rooms are in a building behind the pub and the car park, so it was quiet. Lots of parking spaces and easy to get to the city centre. The room was spacious and clean, and had good facilities including tea/coffee, kettle and a small fridge. It had everything you needed for a good night's stay. The bed was also comfy. There is also a communal area with table, chairs etc.

Lovely British mini hotel

The building is quite authentic. Nice staff, good size of the room. It was very warm there. Everything was working properly. Good place to stay for a couple of nights. Pub is nice with food.

Lovely staff but wouldn’t stay again

Location is good, 8 minute drive to York centre. Staff in pub really friendly and food nice.

We stayed in room 1 in the lodge which is at the back of the pub. The room was dated and felt like they’d just put any old furniture in there to make it a room. * Bed was broken and uncomfortable but the sheets were clean. (Wouldn’t let me upload the video but the bed liked to rock itself) * Radiator temperature knobs were broken. * Full of extension sockets with no appliances being PAT tested., * Tv that old the picture was distorted and no means to sign into any apps like netflicks. * Windows were old wooden ones with cheap locks screwed to them to keep them closed. * No main light, just an old double wall light with the glass flowery shades that might have been brighter with a clean. * The array of cobwebs dancing along the walls and ceiling made up for not being able to watch Strictly on the old tv. * No curtains, just cheap £12 Argos blinds. * The door code to get into the building is laminated on the wall so you can just look through the window and punch it in. Yes, that’s great when you may of had 1 too many to remember it but as a women I felt it was a bit unsafe as anyone could access the building. We did think about leaving but it was late on in the day and we were leaving early the next morning so just stayed. I booked it originally because Marstons as a chain are usually quite nice to stay in but not in this case.

Great (quiet) room on the outskirts of York

Great location with loads of transport links into York centre. The room was large with a decent size bathroom. The check in is easy and we arrived about 1 hour early, but still got our key on arrival.

Rooms need a bit of attention (lino floor in bathroom was a bit bumpy, and some of the fixtures were a bit heath robinson). Overall though reasonable value for money.

Location is perfect for The Rise venue. Stayed here before, which is a recommendation in itself. Friendly staff. Large comfortable room, away from main pub. Comfortable bed. Large car park. Will stay here again.

The location was ideal. The bed and mattress were the worst I’ve ever slept on. This ruined my trip away.

Great location. Only a short bud ride into the city center and parking was free

Well. The mattress was awful and the bed too small. I had about 4 hours sleep in two nights and come away with neck and shoulder pain. Noisy too

Enjoyable 2 night stay with good access to York centre.

Location is good, bus stop just 2 minutes walk away and only 15 minutes on the bus into the centre of York. Plenty of car parking.good size room and quiet location. Fridge in the room was really useful.

Room is rather grubby. It could do with decorating and cleaning more thoroughly. Shower wasn't very powerful. Bed is low down. Bedside light didn't work. Check-in was slow as there was no member of staff at the bar and the young lady didn't seem very familiar with the Check-in procedure.

Lots of free parking. Reasonably priced food. Decor dated but spacious apartment with bath and heated bathroom compensates. Hot shower but leak in shower hose flooded bathroom. Generous quality toiletries supplied. Bedside socket (extension lead). p. Fridge in room. Full-length mirror.

Noise from car park inevitable as it's a pub. Slow WiFi kept cutting out. Housekeeper knocked on door in morning; woke me up!!! Do not do this !!! No security at night: building is isolated away from pub. Mattress needs replacing. Lighting dark in room: just a wall lamp.

Ok if you want to be a little out of the town

The free parking and proximity to the pub is good. Room was spacious. Not too far from York City centre

The room didn't have many facilities but they were adequate. The water pressure wasn't good in the shower and you have to be small to fit under the hose. We are both 6ft ISH so wasn't the best.

Nice and quiet!

Nice location and great that the Lodge is completely separate from the pub. Plenty of onsite free parking. The room was very spacious. Bathroom was a little dated and the shower doesn't drain well but the water was hot and everything was perfect for one night. Check in/out was easy and the staff were lovely.

The room was beautiful, big bed, nice bathroom and everything was super clean. I really appreciated the fridge. All the staff were lovely and friendly. The fact that this was connected to a pub that did amazing food made it more special.

Nice pub and pleasant stay

Amazing pub, nice carvery on a Sunday as well 👌 staff were nice and the room was bigger than expected. Nice comfortable bed, plenty of parking. Excellent little cafe down the road for coffee, and handy location to the co op.

The bathroom vent definitely needs to be cleaned.

Good parking facilities. Nice pub. Nice linen. Looked cute from the outside. The staff were very friendly, offered a drink on the house as the food was not nice.

The bathroom was not very clean, the mattress was hanging through. No soap no shower gel. All a bit worn. Food at the pub was not good. Cauliflower burned at the edges and the steak had a livery taste to it. Scampi, chips and onion rings were convenient food.

Linen and towels were clean. Bed was OK. Windows opened.

The whole place needed updating and was grubby. There was no hot water coming from the tap, so we didn't risk a shower, which was an over the bath affair with a sloping ceiling. The bath panel was broken. The bathroom door was damaged. Thick cobwebs on light fittings. Pink mould on windowsill. The carpet on the stairs was sticky, as was the bathroom floor. The kettle had fur on the spout, so we didn't risk a brew. There were bottles of water in a fridge, but it wasn't turned on, so they were warm. This isn't a hotel, but a building in the car park of a pub. We were on the second floor, so the door was on a step and they had to cut the corner off the door to fit it in.

Close to the city centre and local shops, reasonably priced for alcohol and food, ample parking bays, staff very friendly and hospitable. Regular public transport passing by.

Stayed within lodge which was ideal. Could be doing with a freshen up and feather duster to remove the cobwebs.
