Great for a stay in Engelberg!

Loved the location, friendly staff throughout our stay and the peace and quiet after a day in the mountains. Room was a good size, good shower, overall style was nice. We had a delicious pizza in the restaurant for the night, and then the next day enjoyed the wonderful breakfast (buffet style with lots of options, and we loved that we could order fresh options like scrambled eggs available via the kitchen). Thanks!!

We personally struggled with the bed pillows, since they ended up so flat after a while so we were not too comfy from these. However the duvet was perfect and bed was comfy.

A traditional Swiss nice hotel

Really liked the traditional Swiss aesthetic of the hotel, the location was great and the staff were welcoming

The room was quite hot and didn't have air con which is fine but we asked for a fan but they couldn't supply us with one

Great base to do hikes from

Very modern apartment as a base for some hiking and relaxing in the valley.

The hotel lobby and entrance were closed and the lights were turned off. We hoped to chill in the common areas but it was a bit off season already (mid September)

Magical

Everything about our stay was magical! The staff were so kind and welcoming. The hotel is so beautiful, it felt like a real swiss alpine experience with the wooden interiors and beautiful carpets. The location is beautiful and the food was exceptional. We absolutely loved our stay! It was pure quality. So much better than most of the 5-star modern hotels we usually pick. This had so much character and charm and felt so quality. The breakfast was 10/10 and the restaurant food was once of the best meals weve ever had! I highly recommend!

Comfortable stay, helpful staff.

Traditional aesthetic made a nice change from modern hotels. Centrally located in Engelberg and with an excellent restaurant.

As with many hotels in Switzerland sometimes a double room can be two beds together, but staff were extremely helpful about this. If arriving out of day hours / during mealtimes, you may need to call reception as it isn’t a large hotel. Overall very good stay.

Warm, inviting, cosy hotel in the heart of Engelberg with a fabulous restaurant.

Loved the hotel and the restaurant and the warm cosy charm. The spa was great too.

Found the room expensive at 275 Chf per night with a bit of a disappointing view bearing in mind we were in the middle of the mountains.

Great atmosphere and design in the hotel. Really classical Swiss Alpstyle. Beds were comfortable and the staff was really nice and helpful. We also had private sauna session in the stylish Wellness area. We loved our stay in the hotel.

Only go at weekends and in high-season when the Hotel is properly open.

Not all the restaurants in the Alpenclub were open during the week nor was the expected cosy bar open as from the hotel photos. Really small poky room with no cotton sheet on bed just a stretchy and rough non-cotton undersheet. This poor quality undersheet was exchanged, at my request, to a cotton sheet which the housekeeping made up from a couple of duvet covers. So ,obviously, the hotel does not use quality sheets on their beds which I found really really surprising. Breakfast provision was bizarre and noticeable how the quality, choice and service varied depending on the day of the week. Weekends were better but other days were really lacking. The hotel, due to its age and layout, is not suitable for anyone with a walking disability.

Hotel Alpenclub in Engelberg was a perfect Swiss stay!

The staff were really helpful. The food snd service was outstanding. Manuel served us most in the evening, he was very informative to speak to. All the staff were exceptional. The restaurant was a perfect setting. Our rooms were typically Swiss with low ceilings and lots of wood. Was well equipped with tea and coffee making facilities. It was a quiet stay, which was perfect for us. Having the sauna area to ourselves for 3 days in a row was a real treat. We couldn’t fault Hotel Aloenclub. We’ll be back. Thank you to All who looked after us ☺️

There are better places to stay - if you must go to Engelberg (great views) - look elsewhere.

Central for Engelberg. Access to small number of shops, a few bars and cafes. Good location for walks and the ski lifts. You have to want to be in the middle of a ski/ hiking area as it is a long way to other activities/ civilisation.

The rooms are very small with little walk around space and very basic (If you are over 6ft you will bang your head on lots of ceilings). There is nowhere comfortable to sit in the room, and the lobby is tiny - basically sat on the front desk. We spent more time out in cafe's. The sauna is ok, modern but small and way too bright. For this price there are lots of better stays and ski areas. We booked and paid for 4 days and left after 3.

The coziest hotel in the alps

If you're looking for a cozy hotel this is the one. The rooms, restaurant and terrace are truly amazing, all from wood and with this cozy warm feel. The staff at the hotel is so nice and helpful, I recommend you to have a dinner at their restaurant cause they have the best food in town. The spa was also amazing, you feel so special there, I would definitely come back!

It was a pleasure to stay at Alpenclub and I totally recommend it!! The staff is very friendly and kind, the hotel has a perfect location near both mountains plus the train station and the food was delicious!! We will certainly go back
