Check in was welcoming and friendly. Room was comfortable. Pillows could have been firmer but that’s a personal choice. We ate in the restaurant. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was good. We used the pool for a swim. It is a little run down in areas. Breakfast was just ok. Only a few croissants left at 9.30 and not replenished. Coffee wasn’t great and the hot food was tepid. Nice stay overall though. The staff were very nice.

Hotel was very central to all shopping, and very accessible to all amenities. Regarding the parking was fine , with the exception of the electric car charging on site, the low charging station could take 2 cars but was continually occupied by one car for 3 days without moving from the station. No consideration for other electric vehicles trying to charge . To make matters worse the car was not fully electric but a Hybrid !!!! The only reason I could see for this ,the ev station is beside the Hotel entrance .When ones car is charged it should be moved to the hotel car park

Although we booked and paid for two rooms several months ago (in March), the hotel sold our room (reserved in September). They called us in the evening while we were driving there to let us know they sold the room and wanted to send two of the four in our group to a different hotel that was not in close proximity to the Radisson Blue Athlone. All other hotels in the area were booked. We were sharing a vehicle and it wasn't possible. They apologized but it ruined our evening. Four adults were crammed into a "family" room. Two adults slept on children sized beds. We were so very disappointed. They gave a fruit basket but the damaged was done and it didn't nearly make up for it. It was simply greed on their part.

Hotel was great. The only issue we had was that we booked a river view room and we were given a suite overlooking a parking lot (king bed with 2 bunk beds and we are a couple with no kids). When we went to the front desk, they said the river views were fully booked and initially refused to give us the room we had booked. A manager was called and promptly corrected the reservation. Everything else was wonderful.

Extremely poor ventilation as the windows open only an inch, a tabletop fan was provided at my request but it did nothing to help the heat and stuffiness in the room. It was 24° outside but the room was much hotter, it felt like being in a hot car. The water from the shower and tap smelled strongly of fish, I could smell it on my skin after showering. Staff were notified but they told me they could do nothing about it. I regret wasting my money here.

Extra Thanks to the Breakfast crew that let us in earlier than the opening time, since we had a flight to catch in Dublin. Otherwise exactly the high standard and service on all parts as you would expect from an establishment in this price range. Room for improvement is changing the bath tub to a modern shower design.

This property was really nice…once. I was bothered by how many things needed attention like a broken tile/ wallpaper peeling/ big chip in the desk. Other than this, the location was fantastic, very clean, staff was friendly. I would recommend this hotel as an easy location.

The hotel was very nice and location is great. However, after I checked out i was approached by the girl on reception to say that i hadnt paid for drinks which were ordered. It was for a Coors and a Guinness, neither of which i drink. There was some confusion as to the charge and it was only after I spoke to another receptionist that it was sorted. I didnt order those drinks. This was an embarrassing situation and I was rushing for a train as a result of this delay. I was told there had been a few issues with bar staff!

The hotel is ideally located, with superb views over the river Shannon. The check-in staff were very accommodating & efficient and the bar/restaurant staff were equally proficient. The hotel is displaying areas requiring a little TLC, however, during our stay decorators were working towards improving the overall standards & appearance. In our opinion, the hotel offers excellent value for money. We would recommend the Radisson for anyone visiting Athlone and the surrounding areas.
