Perfect location and excellent staff

The accommodation was very central and we were able to check in early which was great. Staff and management were all so friendly and had food in the bar which was excellent. This was our 2nd time staying here. We were also allowed a late checkout which was really appreciated

The room was very cold when we arrived but the heat came on shortly afterwards. Unfortunately the next morning it was freezing again as no heat came on. This is the only negative as everything else was excellent.

Disappointing

The room was freezing. We stayed in December and no heat was on. We phoned reception and requested for the heat to be switched on on arrival. The condensation from the windows soaked my items on the windowsill. We struggled to sleep due to the cold. I emailed the hotel and no one replied to me.

Disappointing as we did not expect such a raucous next door.

Our overall stay was great in terms of staff and room itself. Howver there were some very noisy and rowdy guests that nigh. not at all what we expected. They wer mot irish and there seemed to be at least 6-7 voices next door.

A stay at the Bailey Gastro Bar

The location was great, as was the food! It was a value-priced room for the night (right above the bar). It was exactly as described: a clean bed, bathroom with shower, and wardrobe. We provided our own hairdryer (but the room had towels, shampoo, and handsoap). The water bottles were a welcome surprise.

A small fridge would have been nice, but the accommodating innkeeper offered ice in a container to keep our beverages cool.

Really Nice!

The room was super clean and tidy, and also very nicely decorated. Had dinner in the bar downstairs and it was delicious.

It got pretty loud outside at night, even on a Wednesday, but that's through no fault of the Bailey themselves but might be nice for someone to know.

Depressing

Good location

Booked a triple room and a lad showed me to it. Opened the door and there were belongings to other guests already there so they messed up the room booking. Then got put into one of the most depressing rooms ever with just one double bed. Was rushing to a wedding so didn’t follow up at the time. Was in the pub for about 5 hours then the next day and must have asked the staff for an update on my room about 4/5 times to be told they should be able to sort me with the room I booked, for the second night. Asked them if they couldn’t sort me, could they at least put clean sheets on the bed. Had to head off to another pub after, was told I’d get a call later with an update. Got no call, no room change or no clean sheets.

Handy spot but definitely needs new mattresses and a good clean.

Location was perfect, only a few minutes from centre. Walkable distance to everything ie., train station, restaurants, pubs and athlone shopping centre which I used for car park at great price. Breakfast was good for meat eaters, vegetarian option wasn’t good as per my friend. Staff friendly.

Mattress weren’t comfortable and had stains on them that looked like blood. Mould in the bathroom too.

The bailey was exceptional the owner and all staff is definitely what would make us go back .The food was absolutely The nicest pub food I've had. Would definitely go back. The owner gave us a round of drinks all 6 of us for a birthday it was a lovely gesture it's the spot to be

A pleasant stay.

The staff were very friendly in the bar. It did lovely food also at good value. The room was nice and the check in experience was no hassle.

I found it very expensive to pay €100 for one night. It would be great to have a TV in the room and a kettle although you can get free tea or coffee in the bar. You can also hear street traffic.

Friendly & Helpful Staff - 5 Star Customer Service!

I stayed with a group of friends at the weekend, the location is very central, Colin and the team were also very helpful in trying to assist me in finding lost items of my own doing in Athlone town centre, overall the staff were extremely helpful and even offered an extra nights accommodation, you won't find this level of customer service in many other locations in Athlone mind Ireland. They also went above & beyond contacting around other locations on a busy Sunday (which they didn't have to do). If you are looking for top-tier customer service with comfortable rooms and tasty food, this is the spot for you.

Athlone town center

The location was excellent. No private parking but there is a nearby 24 hour car park that is not outrageously priced. The Bailey was buzzing with satisfied customers when we arrived on a Tuesday evening, we had other dinner plans so didn't partake. Our room , 3 single beds as requested , was spotless and very comfortable, the ensuite was well appointed, bright and gleaming,. I met the owner in the morning, an absolute gent, a local, who has come back to regenerate and rejuvenate the Bailey gastro bar, works were going on while we were there,(July 2025) but in no way disturbed us. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast with very good coffee, our server was a very pleasant young person. I would definitely recommend a stay in the Bailey gastro bar.

There wasn't anything I didn't like, but we did have issues connecting to the WiFi. The owner did all he could to try rectifying our issue but to no avail on the occasion of our stay. It was an inconsequential matter for us but I thought I'd mention it.

Absolutely everything. Shouldn’t be listed. Dreadful rooms, showers either no water or no temperature control. I’ve seen this property as high as €180 with no breakfast. Unbelievable. Needs a complete renovation

Location is excellent for visiting the town centre. Room was clean and Beds were reasonably comfy.

Shower didn't work properly, kept going between too hot or freezing cold. Only 1 room key provided between 4 Adults was not enough. No breakfast provided.
