The room was clean and they were very friendly at the front desk

Yes this is a barebones motel but I just needed a place to sleep and it was perfect My dog was free The staff was wonderful the place was clean.

Uncomfortable mattress, door was very difficult to open, thermostat on heater did not maintain the temperature

I had the worst experience here I have ever had in a hotel (Room 132) and I have stayed in other Red Roof Inns frequently with no problem like this. I see this reported in other reviews online too. I woke up covered in bites or small welts from what looked a lot like bed bug bites. I immediately showered and packed up and had to get back on the road. I informed the front desk and said I would email them pictures. It did not seem like a surprise to them. When I did get a hold of them they blamed me and said it was probably ticks(?) or fleas that I brought from somewhere else. I understand that they can't control pests but I did not expect to be told that I was lying or that I didn't understand how biting insects work with such a lack of accountability to guests. They said they inspected the room, but the thing about bed bugs is they are hard to detect, especially in the daytime and you need to do more than "take a look". I would never, ever stay here again and would seriously advise people avoid this place. It ended up costing me a couple hundred dollars to replace everything I threw out rather than bring it back with me. Go down the interstate to the next Red Roof.

The staff was friendly and my stay was fine. My only complaint is that my room key stopped working multiple times. I had to walk to the front desk each time in the snow. The first time I had my hands full and had to put everything back in the car before walking to the front desk. A little frustrating.

Good value, and courteous service. Right off the highway. Conveniently located near local gas, food, and other needs. Always an issue whether one wants a hotel with greater control over physical acccess to the rooms, as opposed tio a Motel with outdoor room access.
