Masutomi Ryokan

Excellent place!! The breakfast was amazing

Amazing stay in an authentic ryokan! We loved everything about our stay and was just what we were after on our way between cities. It was easy to find, just a short walk up the street from train station. Staff were exceptionally nice from the minute we arrived and helped us through the language barrier. There were 3 onsens to choose from (gender segregated of course), plus a private rooftop one but we didn’t feel the need to book this. My wife and I tried all 3 and felt so good afterwards. We pre-booked the dinner and it was truly amazing. No short of about 20 different items were served from hot pot to sashimi, vegetables, tempura, fish, fruit etc etc It was set in what felt like a 5 star restaurant underneath the hotel and very intimate. We also had the breakfast which was great, tasty and filling but the dinner was absolutely next level so we can’t recommend more highly adding that to your stay. Room and bed were comfortable, clean and well equipped. In the morning we checked out (after another onsen), were able to leave our luggage and talk a short 10min walk to a couple of nice waterfalls. This stay was one of the biggest highlights of our 2 week trip and left us rejuvenated for the second week.

It was all perfect, very cozy location and kind, accommodating staff. Food was also amazing!
