Very typical and quite a few useful facilities in the hotel. I was alone but I'd say it's a great place for families.
Not their fault but of course the structure itself is a bit old, and so is some of the equipment. Then again, if people come to Hakone to look for "traditional" environments, then I guess this could be seen as a plus if that's what they are looking for.

Absolutely lovely. The room was clean, well presented and the private onsen was amazing. Staff could not have been more helpful. Futon beds comfortable and food very impressive. Room was huge and easily slept 4 of us, with great views over the river.
Just off main tourist street, which is very convenient but less mountain like. Food not to tasting of teenage boys (just not their style). Onsen area due a refurb.

Unfortunately, the property felt quite run-down and in need of significant maintenance, with several areas showing noticeable wear and deferred repairs that detracted from the overall experience.
