Yumoto Fujiya Hotel

Location is perfect for the Hakone Loop. Easy 5 mins access to the station, shops and restaurants via a private lift. Breakfast was good and the onsen was very peaceful and relaxing. We opted for a Japanese style family room which was good fun just for one night!

Some aspects of the hotel feel a little dated and much of the hotel was used for conference facilities which meant a more corporate feel than expected and very busy breakfast time.

Excellent location close to train and bus stations and with a bustling shopping and dining street within walking distance.

In room facilities could be better.

Its a bit tired and needs some care

We were in a very nice large room that included two western-style beds, as well as more traditional Japanese beds on a slightly raised floor platform. It's a resort hotel with extras like hot-springs baths (both public and private). The breakfast was very good. Very conveniently located near Hakone-Yumoto station; from there you can take the "Hakone Loop" for views of Mt. Fuji (if weather/clouds allow). We didn't do the full Hakone Loop, but instead took it to the far end of Lake Ashi, and then went back the same way-- this doubled our chances of seeing Mt. Fuji, and we got lucky on the "ropeway" (gondola) leg on the way back!

There was mold in the shower door lining (because the shower head did not pivot, and did not have a pivoting mount; the water was aimed at the door when we first moved into the room). The communication about the cost of the private hot-spring baths could have been better (the front-desk clerk said it would be 2000 Yen per reservation, but it ended up being 3000 Yen for us (because we were given a bigger private-bath room).
