Brilliant property and location. Restaurant staff needs a lot of improvement though

We stayed in one of the hotel's apartment and it is brilliant. Pretty much all you need on a holiday. The only thing that will make it better is probably an aircon - when hot we had to open the windows and with trains going and windows facing the beergarden and some local car repair shop it was not quiet. But the rest was top notch - location in the middle of the town is brilliant, space is definitely better than any hotel and highly recommended for a few days stay.

Breakfast is not worth it so if staying in apartment, I would recommend to pay a cheaper fare without it and get all the stuff you need in a little corner shop in building next door. Stuff on breakfast was not attentive except one day where lady did actually look and replenish things. We also went to the hotel's restaurant one evening - probably worst service we had in a few years, it took 45 mins between started and main course and restaurant had about 4 tables with customers and when we finally reminded about our food and it was brought up it was cold. Absolutely not worth it - there are better restaurants in town in all service, quality of food and pricing categories.

Wonderful location and property, terrific breakfasts, the apartments were excellent and good parking facilities

Limited reception hours meant doors were locked to the main hotel sometimes and as we stayed in the apartments, our key didn’t access the hotel reception area

Wonderful family stay in the centre of Bacharach

Excellent stay! The check-in was efficient. We had 3 rooms for our family of 6, including grandparents. The hotel has an elevator which was appreciated for our elderly parents. We were very satisfied with the rooms, as they were exactly as pictured on booking! The flower boxes outside all had fresh flowers in bloom, a nice surprise for October. The breakfast room is wonderful, like stepping back in time, but of course with modern comforts. It is not possible to be more central in historical Bacharach. I can speak German, but my family does not, and the staff accommodated with good English skills. I personally had my best rest of our vacation so far here. The bedding was comfortable and we appreciated the climate control at night. Other guests we talked to were also very satisfied with the hotel. Congratulations to the whole team at the hotel for a good experience!

This is THE place to stay in Bacharach.

I liked the location, I loved the accommodation, the checking and checkout process, the parking. The food during breakfast. very charming and romantic.

There is no coffee in the room, during breakfast all is very strict with the naming tags on table, It felt that I am forced in a template. Nice idea on paper, implementation wise you should not be that strict.

Beautiful hotel in prime location

We loved our stay at Altkolnischer Hof. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed our balcony overlooking the main street. Breakfast was delicious, and we also had dinner at the hotel one evening, and it was very good. Would stay again!

Lovely hotel but not very hospitable

Beautiful hotel in an excellent location in the centre of Bacharach. Lovely room with a large balcony overlooking the town.

We arrived at 19.30 hours which is too late to check in but were given instructions on how to get in using the night entrance which was fine, but during our 3 night stay no one approached us to welcome us/check us in or ask if we needed anything. On our last morning we had to leave at 7.30 to catch a train. Breakfast starts at 8 so I asked if we could have an early breakfast or take something with us but was told no. I asked if we could have a pastry or something but was told nothing would be available at that time.

Charming hotel in a beautiful village right on the Rhine. Delicious meals as well.

This was one of my favorite hotels in our tour of Germany. We had been chatting with a couple who had booked a place in the castle up the hill, now converted to a hostel, and we were so happy to be down in the village. Our room looked right onto the church, I think St. Peters, which was fun. The beds were comfortable. Me and my wife slept on a typical German double bed and the kids slept in two armchairs that folded out into beds. Right up the street is the old town wall. We had both dinner and breakfast there and both were delicious. Tied for first in our favorite German hotel breakfasts. The staff was very helpful in coordinating a later than usual dinner to accommodate a little Rhine boat ride we wanted to take. The dock for the Rhine boats was maybe a 5-minute walk from the door of the hotel. So convenient.

The property was fine

The breakfast lady was rude and dominant. We arrived for breakfast approximately 40 mins before it closed and some of the items were not available. When I asked if there was more coming she abruptly told me that it was finished and that there would only be more tomorrow. How this was likely when it was a Sunday I don’t know. We ordered two coffees and they were terrible so I asked if they could be remade correctly. The lady threw them away into the sink and made two more (reluctantly) and then tried to charge us for all four cups. I took it up with management and received similar negative response.

Beautiful and comfortable well maintained historic hotel and wonderful restaurant.

We loved everything about Altkolnischer Hof. The hotel is in a well maintained historic building. Our room was lovely-comfortable and beautifully decorated. It was quite hot while we were there and the air conditioning worked well. The buffet breakfast is generous and delicious with everything you could want. We had dinner twice at the hotel and the food is excellent traditional German cuisine. The town is picturesque and quiet filled with traditional buildings as well as a castle at the top.

Best accommodation - staff were so kind

The accommodation was spacious, comfortable and.very clean. We were made to feel welcomed from check in, during our stay right through to when we checked out. The meal at the hotel was high quality and well priced. The breakfast was the best we have had and we had stayed at more than 50 hotels over the course of 2 months. Our bikes were safely stored in a locked room. The hotel is the complete package and the hospitality is at anothet level.

This is a lovely place, recommended.

This charming apartment was spacious and well-equipped, providing a restful place across the street from the grocery store. It is just a short walk to the Rhine and the boat trips.

Be careful, there is an unexpected step down into the bathroom. Also going up steep stairs 2 flights with luggage was a challenge.

Charming hotel in picturesque historical village

Altkonischer Hof is located right in the center of charming Bacharach surrounded by a collection of other half-timbered buildings. Our deluxe double room was large, well-appointed and clean. The breakfast buffet had a selection of cold meats and cheese, lots of breads, cereal, bacon and scrambled eggs. The two sons of the owner were the staff we met and both were very helpful and spoke excellent English.

The shower/bath combo was a little awkward to navigate

best trip in Germany

Hotel has Medieval German charm! Excellent breakfast and authentic German cuisine restaurant. Rooms have modern updates. Our balcony was wonderful and we enjoyed the view. Elevator was modern. Village has 1500's buildings. Central location. Short walk to train station and river boats. We took a boat to Rudisheim and toured the city. This place will not disappoint.

A great place to stay which made our special holiday even more special.

We really enjoyed our stay in the apartment block. It was right opposite the supermarket and a short stroll to the KD ticket office. The room was very comfortable and spacious and we felt right at home. The bed was very big and comfortable. The Wi-Fi never dropped out and staff were available to assist with any issue. In addition, the location was excellent as it was in easy walking distance to the train station, restaurants and local sights. We would definitely recommend Altkolnischer Hof apartments as a great place to stay.

Great historical building with renovated modern rooms.

Great location, rooms are modern and well equipped.

With fully equipped kitchen, I wish I had some minimal amount of coffee left in the room instead of waiting for supermarket to open and buy coffee in the large portion.
