Hilton Garden Inn Sunderland

This is my first time staying at any of the Hilton group hotels. The lobby looks just like the pictures and looks good. Sadly everything else went down hill from here. we went into our first room and it stank of cigarette smoke.I explained to the desk staff that the room stank of smoke and they gave us another room. The 2nd room smelled fresh, but there were huge stains on the carpet i would never have taken my shoes off. I went to reception and asked for the manager, the young lad at the desk informed me he was the assistant manager and he accompanied me to the rooms. He apologised and we were moved into a third room. He later came back with a token towards a meal at the hotel. The restaurant food was good, but the seating areas were thread bare with big tears. Staff in the hotel are 100% genuine and helpful. Question would i stay here or in any other Hilton group hotels "NO", if this is anything to go by on the standard of hotels i will avoid them totally even if they were half the price (not even cheap) Very disapointing stay

Hotel is great, rooms were clean, I only have one issue, the windows in the room, they cannot be opened so after 1 weeks stay the room is quite musty as no fresh air in the rooms

Decent, clean room and stay. Got a decent sleep, good facilities like bar on site etc. Blackout curtains and quiet. Only couple of letdowns were broken air con so it was a bit hot but I never bothered reporting it as didn’t really affect me, and the breakfast was pretty dire

Lovely place to stay. My only criticism is when asking where to park the receptionist on the phone recommended a car park miles away (st Mary's). Don't! As long as it's not a match day, it was easy to park straight outside and then don't pay in the blue car park, they have a code inside for half price.

Very helpful staff and the room was very clean. Bathroom also very clean with all we needed toiletries wise. Great size TV too. The only thing we would say was the carpet was quite stained looking in numerous parts and the mattress wasn’t very comfortable for us but overall would stay here again maybe in a better bed perhaps. We weren’t put off using this hotel again in future though.

Unfortunately we were allocated a disabled room, bathroom not to my taste at all.

Played the early K.O making pre match atmosphere exciting. Lovely facilities, perfect location to the stadium. Would definitely recommend & stay again

Clean and lovely instead

Staff were excellent and knowledgeable, particularly Niamh on reception. Hotel was well positioned. We have already booked a return visit

We stayed as part of watching a woman’s International. The hotel is right next door to the ground, which was great. The staff were lovely very friendly and helpful, although understandably because of large numbers they were busy but they accommodated us as much as they possibly can which was appreciated

Fabulous hotel. Only tricky bit was finding the correct place to park but after that us was all good! Lovely hotel, it was quiet when I stayed, big windows, luxury feel, fab bed, huge TV and lovely bathroom etc. Restaurant looks great (but didn’t have time to try) and the bar with sports screen. Spacious, modern comfort. Would be very happy to return. Value for money. Right at the football ground and very close to the wonderful Sheepfold Stables for food/drink. Vito’s Osteria Italian restaurant was fabulous! Great hotel!

Hotel needs a refurb. Restaurant seats shabby. Dinner menu limited and on the night of my stay fish & chips and pizza were off the menu leaving a limited choice. Room ok, comfortable but a little worn. connecting rooms can be noisy

Have stayed here 3 times in the last few years. A wonderfully spacious hotel in every respect. Excellent service from staff, especially the Polish lady at the checkin counter and Lynn at breakfast. Free parking at the football stadium opposite the hotel. I love the walk-in shower. Modern and slick. I love the teak wood furniture in the room. The lightings. The pillows. The strong wifi. Etc. Will stay here again in the near future.

The hotel had a problem with no water on the morning of the last day of our stay, so we weee not able to get a shower, flush toilet or wash hands. (So was expensive for the equivalent of camping). Not sure if this was an emergency switch off - but it was very inconvenient. Other than this however It is a decent hotel, clean and comfortable- the shop next to reception with pot noodles and sausage & mash microwave meals next to reception lowered the tone a bit. (It Would be better to offer purchase of these things from bar to take upto room). I know it’s sometimes used to house migrants so maybe that’s why this was there. The room was clean, wasn’t a great bathroom design, shower gel and shampoo fixed at wrong end of the shower behind you and out reach, the TV was ridiculously large for the size of the room. I’d say the hotel was on par with a Premier Inn really.

Seating in the restaurant was needing to be refurbished it was warn and split in places

The accommodation is good and the staff are friendly and helpful.

We want to thank Godiva for making our stay extra special. We had a really lovely time.

Super friendly staff, super clean facilitirs and rooms, locker, fridge, iron in room. Fabulous breakfast and restaurant. Free parking across the street.

Lovely hotel, extremely warm and helpful welcome late at night from Graeme on reception. Just what I needed at 1am and he couldn't have been better. Lovely room and facilities.

Great hotel - we watched a game at the stadium so perfectly located for this event. We enjoyed a meal and time in the bar. The receptionist helped us with two rooms together which helped us so much.
