Excellent location , clean comfortable, Ashley (staff on reception) was absolutely amazing! Fast efficient attentive and a credit to holiday inn express! I’ve stayed in many hotels all over the world and she is exceptional! Really enjoyed our stay !

Everything was good apart from parking which cost me £25 over night parking. So for that kind of money I could of getting a better stay somewhere else and parking facilities. So unfortunately I won't be back.

Unhelpfull staff. No service at all. Failed to preebook a taxi for early morning. Airconditioning not heating. Rooms not even nearly minimum sound proof, could hear TVs from other rooms.

Very central location, fabulous friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are good quality. Wifi good too.

I don't advise eating here and although this is nothing to do with the hotel, eating in Sunderland city centre is a little depressing - either very expensive or Wetherspoons, and most kitchens close very early in the evening.

The different different amounts for drinks one charged £7 for a round one charged £14 for a round. Also the st Mary’s carpark was very expensive £20 in total it cost

Our bathroom was a great size, however the water pressure in the shower and in particular in the toilet was very poor, while the hand basin was the complete opposite but to get to the cold water you first had to get through the hot water which is complete opposite of all other hand basins that we are used to.

We reported a fault with the sink on arrival and we were assured someone would be along to fix it. It was still faulty when we left the following day which is not acceptable !

Fantastic stay at Holiday Inn

The hotel was clean, spacious, and peacefully quiet. Staff were friendly and very helpful. I wanted to extend checkout for another night, they managed to move things around and do it where we could keep our rooms and not have to change rooms. All facilities provided and in good condition, bathroom toiletries are Dove branded and smelt gorgeous. Beds were super comfy, air con worked, beds were tidied for us when we got back. We were given free water bottles too for 5 people when we requested it, when we would've had to pay. Right in the town centre, convenient to go shopping and go to a breakfast cafe round the corner to Hotel. Outside surrounding area is clean and presentable, and parking information was provided. Was able to park all day/overnight for only £5 at Sunniside Car Park. Would absolutely stay here again!

I requested a free cancellation and it was not accepted, so that didn't leave me any choice but to stay at the hotel, as I didn't want my money going to waste. That was a little dissapointing as I had relatives home I could've stayed at, but hotel is worth the value if you're actively wanting to stay here.

Great, clean and bright hotel with lovely, friendly staff & a short walk from nice quirky bars, shopping and the Empire Theatre. We really enjoyed our trip to Sunderland.
