A lovely little hotel.

Excellent parking. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Rooms were excellent.
Breakfast however was very disappointing. Scrambled egg and tomato was very peppery. Hash brown was very thin and difficult to cut through. Struggled to chew it and we left most of it. Mushroom was only a very slim sliver. On second morning we didn't risk cooked breakfast.

Breakfast was enjoyed by the 4 of us. Rooms clean and all staff very friendly and efficient. No problem at all about the parking. Snooker room was a surprise and used and enjoyed by the men.

A charming historic mansion within strolling distance of Elgin's main town centre. Well preserved, an interesting waltz into the past, comfortable lounge and games area. Wonderful dinner service and a super friendly and informative waiter. We were well cared for. Our room was a generous size and comfortable.

Charming Stay at Mansion House Elgin
We recently stayed at Mansion House Elgin and were thoroughly impressed. The hotel is conveniently located just a short stroll from the town centre, making it ideal for exploring local shops and attractions. On-site parking was a huge plus.
Our room was spacious, well appointed, and very comfortable, with a massive bed that guaranteed a great night's sleep. The breakfast was excellent, offering a generous selection of hot and cold options.
Service throughout our stay was warm and attentive. The staff were friendly, professional, and always happy to help. Overall, Mansion House Elgin provided a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

This is an OLD hold. Looks neat however very LOUD. The pipes 'banged' all night and kept us awake (and yes we had ear plugs in) and we went down to the front desk at 1AM and then called the on call number multiple times. No answer. No return call. Told staff in AM. They promised a manager would call us back and make it right. We called and emailed multiple times. No response from manager. We drove four hours round tip out of our way to stay here because it looked 'neat'. Dont make that mistake! It was a waste of a drive and money! We missed our morning excursion because we were too tired to drive that morning and had to sleep in our car. Horrible communication with management - better yet no communication with management besides they will look into it. Iona (spelling?) was pleasant at check in

This hotel was full of character a bit tired in parts of it but thats understandable due to how old it is.The rooms were very spacious & spotless,my only concern was the shower in the bath it was a bit difficult to get in & out of it.The breakfast was outstanding & the service was 1st class. We only stayed for 1 night so we didnt get to explore much. Its only a 5min walk from the towncentre plenty of pubs & restaurants.

This was over priced and did not represent value for money.
The only positive things I can say are:
1. A fabulous building in a good location! But you need it...
2. Pleasant, helpful staff!
3. A great breakfast - superb in fact! Apart from the coffee (my subjective opinion of course)
Sadly...
Currently no dinner option available. So you need to stride out! Or call in a meal!
I was in the "Lodge". Its a fair distance from the main building so factor that if mobility is an issue. There are stairs, so consider accessibility!
My room was cold. Adjusting the radiator valve made no change - (suspect the boiler off!)
I had a "private bathroom" but it was several pacss across the main access hall way, passing another room, and required a physical key to unlock! A total palaver - lock room door, dash across the hall, unlock bathroom - and the reverse when you are done. A dressing gown was provided - but it was probably sized for a teenager.
Rooms are tired and need a deep clean and fresh decor.
There was tea and coffee making facilities - but no water in the room...so out of the room, lock the door, off to the kitchen, fill the kettle ...you get the picture!
Overall - average! And I think I'm being generous.

What an absolutely beautiful place! We loved our room; it had so much character. We appreciated the kettle and coffee/tea in the room, the included breakfast; the restaurant on site, the wifi and the available parking. The grounds are also beautiful; you can sit at the tables along the river and admire the castle-like building. I wish we could have stayed longer.

There was no evening food but breakfast was really excellent - the hotel is a bit tired and could do with a refit but has character

Great location, great look and appeal, affordable stay, while easy drive to most sight-seeing locations and distilleries in Speyside.
8.0 / 10.0
Elgin was a wonderful town with great access to Speyside area, and this property was a nice /a good stay especially due to the wonderful staff but the property is in need of some updates and walking into town for restaurants involved crossing several roads (not ideal for traveling with kids or elderly). Worth the stay.

When we booked the room on Hotels.com, we simply chose our bed size preference. There was no transparency on whether the room was in the main Mansion House or in the dated guest house ("Lodge"). When we arrived, we were immediately told (by a very hard to understand middle-Eastern man) that we were not in the main house, but were instead in the "Lodge' down the road. He tried to explain it was ,"down the road past the trees". We were carrying our luggage and he could tell we were confused. So, he eventually walked out to the parking lot with us to point where the Lodge was. We asked if we should drive there and he assured us it was "just past the cut tree". We asked if there was parking there and he said there was a little spot there. We asked if there was room for to park and he chuckled and said there is "plenty of room to park right here" (in the main parking lot by the Mansion). So, we begrudgingly carried our luggage down the road about 100 yards to the Lodge. When we arrived there, we immediately noticed there was parking for three cars so i eventually went back for the car. When we went inside, we climbed the small flight of stairs to our room and were again disappointed to find a room of mismatched garage sale furniture. The room was clean, but old, and the bed was comfortable, just disappointing. When searching the website for the hotel and Hotels.com, not surprisingly, this particular room is never photographed.

The mansion house is such a beautiful building but needs a lot of Love and attention. The room I stayed in was very dated and threadbare, although the bathroom was lovely. The restaurant was closed due to lack of staff

Excellent stay. The property was wonderful and we could walk to a good bit of dining and shops. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was really good!

The stay was cool but compared to the outside the interior felt bare. Would love to talk to you about how to improve it as I design museums and historical interiors. A few key things in the common spaces would make the place much more memorable and less (in a negative way) dated. We can switch it to make it dated in the best of ways.

Had booked two rooms, they hadn't noticed and only one was available.
The manager had quit and left keys with chef half an hour before we arrived, so the whole thing chaotic and the poor guy had no idea what to do.
Eventually got a room, but it wasnt comfortable and place was as tired as the poor staff.
4.0 / 10.0
The hotel is advertised as 4 star.
I am sure at its peak (a number of years ago) it was worthy of this rating.
However, this is certainly not the case now.
It is a shame as the building has lots of character and the lounge and other reception and social spaces are presented in a grand house manner.
Our bedroom was very clean and the bed very comfortable as well as a very nice ensuite bathroom.
The only issue with the room as well as the hotel is that it all seems to need brightening up and refreshed...
The issue with the facilities is that there is no restaurant in the evening, no bar and virtually no staff around the hotel!
However, the hotel does offer a well staffed breakfast room with plenty of options on the menu, great attentive staff and I'm guessing the owner/manager pleasantly greeting all guests in the foyer.
The whole experience left us with mixed feelings as we didn’t necessarily have a bad stay and there were plenty of positives, added to some frustrating negatives.
