If you get a chance to stay here, it is out of this world. The view is second to none. Even though there are a ton of people around taking photos, your room is completely private and you have an unobstructed view of Santorini. One of the oldest properties in Santorini, the hotel has so much charm, especially its decor. Everything is near you. We even cancelled our dinner reservations because dining on our balcony was even better. The owners were so nice and helped us with our luggage and even stored it for us afterward. Highly recommend if you want to be in the heart of Santorini.

One of the best vacation we had. Santorini is amazing and staying at Sea Captains was the most wise decision we made. Property is beautiful, I think it has the best location on the island. The service, what can I say, First class all the way. Takis and his staff, They pamper us from the time we wake up in the morning with coffee, breakfast in our villa, and he made sure we are taken care through the day with suggestions and setting up places to visit and eat. We will be back and strongly recommend.

Our stay at the the Sea Captain’s house surpassed our expectations. Takis, the manager, has excellent communication before arrival with options for travel to the hotel and offered help with excursions. Takis also arranged for a porter to help with our bags as it is down two sets of stairs from the main pedestrian only paths. Also included was 2 big bottles of water per day. We were provided with one of the best breakfast we have had in a hotel: coffee/tea, orange juice, baked goods, fruit plate, cheese and meat selections, Greek yoghurt, honey, and eggs. We were set for a day of exploring. Takis helped us plan our days. We would stay again and definitely recommend to anyone who wants to live the way people have in Oia for years….away from cars, enjoying a beautiful view. One has to expect so many people in the small walkways of Oia and adjust when you want to take photos. We were able to take the 2 domes photo but we did get up at 6am, fortunately we went back to the hotel and alept before breakfast.

Mr.Takis is a very nice property manager. He arranged all our pickups and drop off to and from hotel.He made sure we had breakfast next day as we had to do an early check out. This property is located in the heart of Oia with amazing views. We got up early to take pictures with the blue dome as it was right next to property and had a peaceful walk on the strip of Oia.

My wife and I stayed at this lovely boutique cave hotel and we had an amazing time. The location of this hotel is awesome, very convenient to walk to all the places to see in Oia plus close to the bus stop if you want to go to other places in Santorini, plus it has great views of the caldera and literally a stone’s throw from one of the picture taking place. Secondly, the breakfast was great, lots of fruits, Greek yogurt, cheese and choice of eggs. They even packed the breakfast for our early morning departure. Lastly, the manager, Mr Takis, is awesome. He sat down with us on multiple occasions and talked to us about the island’s history and geography. He helped plan our two day trip, suggested which restaurant’s to go to, and had arranged for our taxi ride from and back to the ferry. He made us feel like family. We would highly recommend this place.

Such a great location if you want to be in the center of Oia! Only steps away from one of the most famous photo spots and we were able to get up early and see it at sunrise without the massive crowds that get there around 8 am. The room was beautiful and clean and breakfast was great. My only complaint is the wifi is not so good. Otherwise an amazing stay

Amazing stay! Takis & his team made our Santorini trip thrice as enjoyable. Takis recommend us a list of the best restaraunts in the town. All 3 restaurants are amazing! He also helped us make reservations for Sunset cruise boat private tours and transport services from and to the airport. Everything is seemless! The hotel room was clean and cozy with amazing wifi and television services. It suit us perfectly (2 adults & 2 teenagers). Each morning, we had a delicious breakfast with fresh fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice and an amazing view of the calderra. If you’re in Oia you will not regret staying here! Thanks Takis & teams😀

The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. I feel we truly became friends. It was more than a business transaction to them. Fantastic location near the Main Street so you only had to climb about 7 steps to the main walkway/restaurant/shopping street. Friends had to climb 100 steps every day so this is a big plus in hilly Santorini. Room was very clean and the breakfasts were so large we didn’t have to eat lunch once! Great place. You will enjoy it.

Takis was extremely helpful from the transfer to the house from a delayed ferry to helping us back off to the airport with our changing schedule, The suite was perfect for our family of 4 and quiet at night. The breakfast on the patio each morning was second to none! I would recommend to all my friends and family. And Oia was a great landing spot for this leg of our trip. Thank you!

It’s a fantastic place! The host is super nice. We had a unforgettable time there. Very convenient location, gorgeous view, very close to the iconic blue dome churches. I have traveled a lot and stayed in many hotels. I don’t usually recommend hotels to other people unless it’s truly outstanding, and 1864 The Sea Captains House is one of them. You won’t regret if you choose it.

What to say about this place? It is better than the photos! The location is the best in Santorini. The breakfasts are unbelievable. Takis and staff are friendly and helpful. You feel like they are making this your home. The two drawbacks: everyone is taking Instagram photos outside the courtyard, and the shower facilities are awkward. Other than that: perfection!! We will return.
