We want our money back!

The plus points about the apartment were its location to the City Centre and the car parking arrangements which were smooth .

We want our money back! We booked a Superior one bedroom apartment with balcony. Having been met by the host (Adam), he said we were getting an upgrade. He said this on more than one occasion as we were led to the apartment. The "upgrade" was being given a two bedroom apartment, however it was most certainly not superior! The apartment we were given did not have a dishwasher, tumble dryer or a balcony/terrace with garden views, all of which were included in the apartment we booked. Also, there was a lack of basic essentials in the apartment. No teaspoons, a lack of other kitchen utensils and no plugs in either the kitchen sink (making washing up difficult without a dishwasher or a plug) or bathroom sink. The stove top was filthy and so was the oven. The microwave was rusty (which should be condemned). All of the pans have been over used to the extent of rusty scratches all over them. We had already bought food to cook in the apartment for 2 nights out of 3 so we had to go back out to buy a new pan and wooden spoon to cook our dinner! A pan we didn't need! The kitchen cupboard doors were loose and the sofa was dirty with lots of stains all over it. The rug had curled up corners which tired to trip us up! The bed was very small and uncomfortable, springs in the bed moved making you feel like you were in a game of Buck-a-roo where a spring could fire out of the mattress at any point if you moved. They were definitely not the extra long beds as advertised. The wardrobe was falling apart and the bottom drawer fell out when trying to find the iron! The apartment was advertised as semi detached however it had an apartment either side which isn't semi detached and it constantly smelt of smoke in the corridors when we was told by Adam that it's a no smoking building! It also states on the website that cleaning products are provided however there was only half a bottle of cheap washing up liquid and a cheap kitchen roll.

Unreasonable Pre-Arrival Deposit Request and Lack of Transparency

I had to cancel my reservation due to the venue's insistence on paying a security deposit days ahead of arrival, which was not clearly stated at the time of booking. When I spoke to Booking.com, they confirmed that this request goes against their standards and advised me not to pay anything until check-in. I relayed this to the property, but they continued to insist on upfront security deposit payment. This lack of flexibility and disregard for Booking.com's policy left me feeling uneasy, especially without any clear guarantees that I wouldn’t be held responsible for damages caused by previous guests. I value transparency and fair treatment when booking accommodation, and unfortunately, this experience didn’t give me that confidence.

Good location with parking.

The central location was good and the staff was amazing and very friendly and helpful. Had a iron and iron board which is always helpful and with secure parking at a cost of £10

Had a broken shower head so having a shower was a task. And was super noisy at night, its as if the windows dont have a good seal or a good double glaze. It literally felt as if i was sleeping in the street. Usually i dont mind noise but yes its very noisy. And it was very cold. Dont think the electric heaters done the job.

Initially bargain price but once property tells you add on costs for parking, check in, security deposit not much less than a hotel. Not the cleanest, some tatty parts in apartment. Kitchen poorly equipped. TV only available via Wi-fi which was inoperable and only worked for a short time when staff came to “fix.”

The room was really nice, the balcony was a bonus.

The floor was really sticky and dirty, my socks came back out really really dirty, also there was an alarm that was going off for a while which prevented me and my sons sleep

In a great location, loved that it had a balcony too.

It’s looking pretty tired in places, wouldn’t take much to spruce it up though. “Secure” underground car park had a homeless person living in it with all their belongings. Also some substance fell off the roof of the car park and damaged the paint on our car and the surrounding cars.

I liked the fact that the house agent considered giving me a 2 bedroom flat because I came with my wife and kids even though i paid for a 1 bedroom flat. This was done at no extra cost to me. Thank you once again.

Cosy and comfortable

The host went above and beyond to assist in any way that he could. The bed was comfortable. The apartment was near a lot of restaurants and shopping.

the apartment building had a bad smell but you couldn’t notice it when you got into the apartment. Could be a bit noisy if this would bother you but you are in the city centre so you can’t blame anyone.

The landlord goes above and beyond to help and always with a smile! He responds to calls and he's very collaborative. The house is furnished with everything you might need and there is a Tesco just outside for anything else. the location is great, 5 minutes to New Street and city center.

Around the weekend can get noisy but if you have earplugs and a sleeping mask you should be fine!
