Hidden gem in the heart of appledore!

Lovely spacious property. Beautiful rooms with comfy beds. Lots of towels and linen provided. I stayed in the attic room and being 5ft7 it was an okay height for me, if you had anyone taller they may struggle with the ceilings and beams. Lots of plug sockets and I loved the fresh water and milk in the fridge. Good amenities.

You can hear anyone above you or below you making noise. I was woken up by other guests moving about their rooms.

Clean and comfortable room with sea views!

Location was perfect and the room was lovely , bed v comfortable

We were freezing cold and it effected our sleep on Christmas night , no extra blankets available

We didn’t open for breakfast so not applicable. Room was lovely and a great location and very clean and presentable . It’s a small room and best described as a one night or possibly two at a push . Otherwise fab

Potentially a great place to stay, but you need to be able to sleep. That's the whole point!

The building and the room was beautifully presented, good size, all modern and new-looking. Nice bathroom, great view. Lots of attention to nice detail. Very comfortable. Good value.

We would have given the rating 10/10 had it not been for the fact that there is a massive street light attached to the building, just above our room. It lit up our room all night, as if it were daytime as there were gaps around the blinds so they didn't keep the light out. To check this, you will need to stand in the room after dark. The room needs black out curtains that fit over the window fully. Or someone needs to knock that light out. We thought breakfast was a little bit on the mean side. Not cheap, but had to choose between tea/coffee or orange juice. And even a cappuccino was an extra. Tiny strips of bacon. We didn't mind the walk to the hotel for breakfast as it wasn't raining. But as far as I am aware we didn't know about that arrangement until the booking was confirmed.

Location and good facilities. Excellent shower. Comfortable bed in spacious room. Very helpful staff to sort heating issue.Wonderful view over the estuary.

When we arrived room was very cold, and impossible to get heating to work. However one call and help arrived promptly.

Beautiful view of the estuary and very clean. Fabulous breakfast at the Royal George around 500m away.

Would stay again without any hesitation

Perfect location and the view beyond comparison. Clean comfortable room . Milk provided in the fridge which was a nice touch.

The stairs were steep but doable. The room had shutters which didn’t stay shut 😂-curtains or à blind might be a consideration - but would certainly return.

A lovely two night break in lovely town of Appledore

Location, lovely big room very clean and facilities were great.

Only problem is the room on the middle floor needs a blackout blind or curtain as the street light shines through

Lovely and modernised whilst keeping period style and features. Very clean and attractive room and bathroom. Bed and pillows very comfy, too.

We were in attic room which meant some ducking of heads for taller people. Needed to drag chair around to stand on to close/open Velux windows and blinds.

We had a lovely few days at the Sailors rest in Appledore.

The Sailors Rest exceeded our expectations, good size room, comfy bed, really nice/modern en-suite. The Royal George was very nice, the breakfasts were excellent & all the staff we met were really nice/helpful & efficient!

Position of the only mirror in room ,was too high ( imagine for most women ) No full length mirror , so drying hair , doing make up an issue .

A brilliant place to stay in a great location.

Great room with lots of character, fantastic location and view. The check in process was super easy, the bed is really comfortable and there were fans and a coffee machine in the room which was great. The breakfast was smashing, the best I’ve had in a very long time. The staff have all been really friendly and welcoming. Would 100% recommend!

Comfortable stay with excellent breakfast. Pleasant location.

Large and comfortable room, large bathroom and walk-in shower. Located right on the river in the centre of the village. Breakfast at the Royal George (10 minutes walk away) was excellent and the views of the estuary from the breakfast room were excellent (in good weather). Free parking in the street if you could find a place, which was not always possible. Car park about 40 meters away was free between 6.00pm and 8.00am, but you had to pay outside of these times. Appledore was very pleasant.

When booking a room I had expected to have one with a clear view of the river, but it turned out that our room was at ground-level and the view was of the parked cars in the street. Difficult to extract key from key-safe on check-in. Access to room was through two doors both with very strong closers on them which made it difficult. Getting out of these two doors and negotiating the front-door required a bit of choreography, particularly with cases. I'm not too keen on a wet-room shower where the water gets all over the floor, so would have preferred a low-level shower tray. Breakfast often took rather a long time to arrive.

We were there for 3 nights and only had 1 very small bottle of soap gel for 2 of us. We ended up shopping for more. Not a major issue but would be nice to have more spare bottles

Very nice place to stay for a few nights to explore local area

Perfect location on Appledore quay. Close to lively breakfast cafe, pub, deli etc Very calm, peaceful place. Very comfortable and clean room ( first floor) with added comfort of mini fridge with milk and water in it.

The radiator next to the bed was boiling hot, even though I switched it off as instructed, it seemed to come on again in morning. Had to keep windows wide open.
