- in the city centre, on the main road - god value for money, great for short stays

- no staff around - the bar was always closed, so i couldn’t meet anyone from the staff to ask question/rent a towel - internet was lagging

Cheap, Clean, Convenient but Hands-Off management.

Great value and location. Good shower. Nice communal area with a kettle and a space to plug in and work on my laptop at late hours when others sleeping in dorm.

Very poor customer response. I arrived in the morning and there as no info as to whether I could check in early; no response to Booking request. Thankfully I was able to walk in anyway and take the shower that I needed before my e-Key activated.

Without a receptionist, the email key system is very difficult. If a customer loses their mobile in the bazaar, market, or outside the hotel, how can they open the main entrance and their room door?

Reconsider and stay elsewhere.

Location is central, although right on to an extremely busy and noisy street. I can't think of anything else positive to include.

Beds weren't very comfortable. Rubbish on floor from previous guests (chocolate wrappers etc). The online key was a pain and didn't work for me at one point, physical key would be much more convenient. The noise from the awful drum and bass bar below the hostel was so loud it was impossible to get to sleep until at least 4am. At 5am on our second night someone not staying there (homeless/junkie) managed to get past the main entrance and was banging on all room doors trying to get somewhere to sleep while swearing and being aggressive. It was genuinely quite frightening. All in all, this was a horrible experience and I would encourage anyone to think again rather than stay here.

Room was warm, choice of upper and lower bunks. Separate chill out room with free hot drinks. Good hot water supply in showers. They provide ear plugs

Have to press button on shower every 5 seconds to keep water flowing. As it was weekend, the noise from outside was continuous all night.

Room was warm and comfortable with ample plug sockets etc. Bedding was clean and fresh. The large female dorm had second additional room with sofas and area to chill. 2 toilets and 2 showers to share. Water was warm. There is some noise from location, especially on weekends, so be prepared for that.

All access is via an electronic access system, the link to which is send via phone. These don't always work and there is no staff onsite. I got locked outside very early on Sunday morning when codes failed to load and the emergency number wasn't answered.

The large female dormitory is at the front of the property so I got no sleep due to revellers, loud music and bars along the street going on until past 3 am! This was at the weekend maybe quieter during the week 😕

The worst hostel

Location is good, only location. That's all.

Terrible hostel, room door no lock, and Savings Column can't lock by my own locker. Room is smell, the lower bed is too low can't head up. I can say that it is the worst hostel I live. DON'T book this hostel.

Worst experience someone can get (and I have stayed many places in South America)

Not sure what I can say that is positive? The only positive thing was the amount of people going for the Cardiff ½-marathon race and we were vibing in the morning.

This is a long list of very bad things.. - All bathrooms were not cleaned, and had no toilet paper or paper towels to wipe your hands - There was no staff around to talk to - Maybe a staff member tending the down-stairs public bar, but they were not accommodating or wanting to help too much. - 'Common room' stated open hours from 6 am, but no one could enter before 8 am - WiFi and G4/G5 connection is barely existing - Keyless access on a website to enter all doors never worked, due to lack of WiFi or G4/G5 internet connection. (Even heard people had to go to the nearby McD, just to enter WiFi to open doors, and quickly run to the main door. - The beds were extremely poorly build and probably the cheapest you can find on the internet. - Bunkbeds were moving drastically, just by turning around in the bed and waking up whomever was below/a top.

The only positive is the location which is very central.

This is a terrible place. Loud music until 3am. People coming in at all times. 7 beds in a small room (including one triple bunk!!!). The mattress was really uncomfotable and I did not feel safe.

Avoid at all costs unless desperate or a party animal

Central location

Dreadful stay - busiest street in Cardiff full of bars and clubs with so much noise you can’t sleep. Noise didn’t stop all night - got up at 4.30 am and left …. People smoking weed outside front door and lots of very very drunk people in the street outside. Didn’t help that Macdonalda is opposite and is open all night.

The location at city centre is prefect convenient and thus, it comes with the noisy from the street and music from the bar downstair.

The equipment and bedding are too old The bathroom n toliet in the dorm are super simple, small without any space for placing your shampoo or body wash. Juat stayed 2 night on Fri and Sat, the noise never ended until 2am or 3am daily...

Cheapest place to stay in Cardiff probably for a reason

Location to town, train station, stadiums. Price

No check in just assumed use of phone to electronically open doors. No towels, no paper towel in bathrooms, gum stuck all over bed frame. Out of date mattress - purely springs. AC didn’t really affect room temp. Nowhere to store bag.

Well, those who don't mind the noise and are desperate for where to lay their head can try it.

I like it being within the city center. Entrance a bit secured. That it's not far from basics shopping centers.

I didn't like the mixed gender sleeping pattern. I found that very embarrassing. Strang men and women sleeping in the same room. What's that. I prefer male and female sleep in separate rooms. Too close to club location causing too many hard drug enthusiastic people around as residents. No basics home facilities (microwave etc).The fridge was too small for the size of the apartment and no one to guard you round on arrival.

Dissapointing hostel, but alright location

Location perfect as you're right in the city centre

Staff was pretty much non existent. Rushed 'check in' which basically just meant someone showing you how to use the virtual key. It's right above a bar and you'll hear everything throughout the night, there's so many bars/clubs around so it's extremely noisy. I slept through it as I was exhausted, but just something to be aware of. Bathrooms were okay, shower was basic and didn't work properly, it was all very squeaky too, I was honestly terrified to end up on the dancefloor below 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ No kitchen available, they do have a microwave and a teeny tiny fridge. Not the usual chill/social atmosphere you'd expect from a hostel, but it's alright for 1 night.

CARDIFF - SURROUNDED BY ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS DELIVERING FOOD

Comfortable mattress and bedding.

Over complicated electronic check in procedure. No staff around in the bar beside the hostel to assist. Woken up at 6am by a pair of Canadian hippies. Too many off the illegal Dover boats with face coverings. Drug dealers in the local area. People hanging about in doorways. Cardiff is not a nice place and many hospitality businesses are very high priced.

Has everything you need - a great place to stay for those in the move (as long as you're not picky).

Considering the price you pay, you get all you need to go on with your stay in Cardiff. Bathrooms were not the best, but they had heated water and a relatively clean toilet. Bedrooms were pretty cramped and needed proper storage, but the bed was well-kept, and the rooms were cleaned religiously every day. My biggest complaint would likely be other inconsiderate guests barging in in the middle of the night to speak super loudly while others are sleeping, but really, that's not in bunk house's control. The location is the best part about this place. Also, the common room is a really good place to decompress and/or work.

Bedrooms were cramped, and are in desperate need of safe storage for when guests are away for the day. Bathrooms were bare, and some showers didn't have shower heads. The toilet also didn't have toilet paper at one point. There were also inconsiderate guests, which is hard to control.

Terrible access control system.

Stayed in dorm 5. Large rear facing mixed dorm. Bed was comfortable and room was quiet. (Only a few guests) So had choice of bunks.

Check-in is terrible. Waited ages for email to come through with electronic key. Hostel advise to visit downstairs bar for assistance between 14:00 - 22:00, but nobody available until 17:00. Staff were helpful in facilitating my check in, but I had to go down 2 times, as not given code for bathrooms and bedroom code was not working. During the night, the electronic keys failed, leaving me unable to access showers or toilets. No assistance available. ( 1 set of toilets on another floor were open, but in poor state) There is very little headroom on the bunks, so hit head several times getting into and out of bed.
