Clean and comfortable for a couple of nights

Central location, reasonable room

The staff were friendly upon check in, and the room was spacious. It all seemed quite outdated, but it served fine as a budget room for one night.

I can't really remember as some time has passed now, I think it was all fine. Maybe a little bit cold, but the fan heater helped.

cheap & dirty, but very central

the room was up very steep flights of stairs, which was fine for us with young legs, but the whole place is flithy, including the mouldy carpet on the very worn carpeted stairs leading up to the rooms. the place is in a great central location, and you check in at the gyros kebab shop which is the ground floor of the accomodation. there are no smells or noises from the surrounding areas, which was the only plus point.

the room was freezing, the windows cracked, the walls and floors stained (really tried not to touch anything in the room!), mould/damp smelling. the furniture old, and i would not sit in either of the chairs in there! fear there may be scabies.. the beds were lumpy, and the duvet & pillows so thin they didnt keep us warm. (i brought a hot water bottle from home, which saved me). there is a bright green security light in the ceiling which is light enough to read a book by, which cannot be switched off. the bathroom looked like a motorway services bathroom from the 90s, which i expect is when it was installed. the plastic bathmat, which would have been clear at some point, is now yellow/brown and stained with age (i hope its age). i didn't have high expectations, as i paid £73 for one night, but it would have been nice to at least be warm.

The location is amazing!!! Couldn’t have asked for a a more prime location, for the price per night it’s belting. I had 2 rooms booked & my parents room, the shower handle fell off. Reported it & they had it fixed that night.

I had 2 rooms booked & my only criticism was that I asked for a low floor for my parents as my mum has breathing difficulties & finds walking up stairs difficult (there is no lift) & when they checked in, they were given room 8 on the very top floor & my mum had to walk 101 stairs to get to the room. Seeing as they were only staying 1 night, she managed but would have preferred the lower floor especially as I asked a few days in advance. Don’t expect a hot shower, the water didn’t stay hot for long so have to be quick.

Its ok for a weekend stop but I wouldn't do it for a whole week. Its very good for being in the centre of Cardiff for everything you need eg: Bars, Clubs & Shops.

The heater in the room was not very good, the room No.6 was cold and would take overnight to make it decently warm. It smells of chlorine in the bathroom, it really needs a makeover to make it up tto scratch for today's standard. The carpets are worn on the stairs and are steep with no lift in the building. Internet was rubbish only getting 1.5 meg speed, tv was small...much improvement needed as I've had better stays elsewhere for the same price.

Excellent and peacefully satisfied.

It was excellent. I am surprised to see lot of people’s complaints but for me it was extremely peaceful no disturbances, pure comfort and respect towards their tenants. I saw a lot of comments about cleanliness but i have stayed there for 11 days and when i first enter my room it was neat and clean and i was really happy that it was that level of good. Extremely satisfied.

The sink water drains very slow . Don’t know why .

Good location though

You have to check in through the kabab, the man didn't speak English and gave us the wrong key even though we said it was for the wrong name. And had the wrong room. The windows were drilled shut, really run down and smells of fast food.

The location, it was very handy having it on the strip

That it wasn’t clean, floor was soaking wet when we checked in, and when we went to tell them they didn’t care and just gave us towels when asked which we put on the floor and it came up yellow

Cozy!’

I have no serious complaints about this place in fact, I don’t know how anyone does. This is a classic “you get what you pay for” but honestly, this place is really not bad if anything, it’s good for its price! Bed was really comfortable and it was very clean in general. I was surprised to have some washing freebies in the bathroom lol shame I couldn’t use them :( very convenient place it’s very simple to check in and out. Very simple place it’s very private it was very quiet I couldn’t hear anyone but in all fairness I did visit on a Monday. I seriously have no complaints I don’t see why I wouldn’t come back here :)

-when I first came into my room I thought I was on fire it was extremely warm in the room :( I obviously turned off the radiators but it took quite a while for the room to cool down considering the only window I could open was the one in the bathroom. But I found it considerate that the staff turned it on before I checked in so I could be nice and warm so I appreciate that :)) it’s just too hot for my liking LOL

The cleanliness of the hotel was awful, not being pre-warned the hotel didn’t have a lift was very poor especially as I was travelling with a disabled person. The overall stay at this hotel was abysmal

The room was a little dated, but a fantastic old building right in the centre of town, amazing location and easy to check in. For the money you pay its great value, no frills but you get what you pay for.

Tv remote only had 1 battery and the stairs were steep, single pain windows so could hear everything, but for one night after a concert cant really fault it

The two single mattresses in bedroom 3 were very tired, well worn out, uncomfortable and need replacing. The shower head needs a small amount of attention to make it work properly.

The staff were lovly and kind.

The beds were really bad. It had a bent in the centre so as you’d lay down your back would sink in and you can feel the springs. The room was really dirty, the bedside table had cut nails in the drawers. The bin in the toilet had not been changed as it had rubbish from before. The pillow case had to be taken off because there was blood or some red mark on it. The bedding’s all had hair. The duvet cover had a tear in it. The room was too tight and no room for space. The shower and toilets weren’t clean at all. The windows were really dirty. The stairs! Don’t get me started on the stairs. At the time of the booking I was not made aware the property does not have lifts. It’s only after the property eas made I got a message saying there is no lifts. Which again I didn’t mind. But no one mentioned about the number of flights of stairs on the message, which I shud have been in

Excellent Location, clean room, not too bad on size. Fresh towels, nice and quiet at night even on a Saturday night Bathroom clean. Decor and carpets were rather worn. Basin cold tap would not properly turn off and shower water pressure was a problem for a while on Sunday morning.

Not a very comfortable stay

We stayed at this hotel Sept has we were taking part in a Cancer walk and the location was central. The stairs were very steep, carpet falling apart and I found it hard getting up them. I said I wanted lower floor but got higher which is the opposite what I asked. I found this place very dated, needed lots of improvement on everything. The beds were hard a d felt like I was sleeping on a board.The floor boards were moving has you walk through the room. The tv from a distance of the bed you couldn’t see has it was tiny. The windows were single glazed so hear all shouting etc from people in bars early hours. Overall it was central to everything. Needs updating badly.

Comfy Bed

I stayed at ML Lodge from 5 to 7 September. The room was in unacceptable condition. Wallpaper was peeling with damp, walls had cracks, and the bathroom was broken with a shower head and toilet seat that did not work. The overall maintenance was very poor. Despite raising these issues, the hotel refused a refund and only offered a discount on a future stay, which does not address the problems I experienced. The location is convenient, but the accommodation was far below a reasonable standard and needs urgent attention. I cannot recommend this hotel in its current state.

The room was very clean and in an a very central location

The shower ran out of hot water within seconds and I could not get it to come back on. There is no real reception, it's in a takeaway outlet. This is fine, you still get the key, but the guy who gave me the key wasn't at all welcoming. No big deal, though, I would rather have this than an unclean room.
