Lovely 17th century inn with great atmosphere and superb restaurant/bar. Ideal for a stay in Norwich. The beds were really comfortable and we slept well.
We don’t like fixed overhead showers as are featured in the en-suite to our room, preferring hand held showers but that is just our preference

Great breakfast and service was excellent
Decor of room bit tired but service was exceptionally good which overcame that

Very accessible if disabled room was in a block near car park
Small single bed also needed both radiators (one on wheels) full on to heat room , bathroom cold even with towel rail on.
Parking was a bit tight as a busy pub

Breakfast was great but this booking was room only.
No chair in room. NO KETTLE in room. Toilet seat was very loose. How did the loo seat and lack of kettle get missed by staff?

The evening meal was very nice as was the breakfast the following morning. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The thing I noticed most was the temperature. Parts of the bar/restaurant were cold, something should be done to make it more comfortable when eating and drinking.

Needed more power points in our room

Wonderful centuries old pub/restaurant. Good food.
Crazy steep and narrow staircase up to the rooms

Nice hotel/pub , very old building but clean and meal in the evening was very nice. Comfortable room, staff were very pleasant
Too far to walk into Norwich, need a car or by bus- bus stop was outside

Friendly staff. Very good breakfast. Characterful older property.
A chair in the room would be welcome. Slight disadvantage of the noise of deliveries to the nearby supermarket

Great staff - Warm welcome - Marvellous stylish pub (since 1643 !) - Great area - Free and safe parking - Great atmosphere in the pub - Very good breakfast - Delicious food - Very interesting choice of french wines - Easy to go to the centre of Norwich with bus 11A and 12 (bus stop just in front of the pub).
Bed is not very comfy and is too small for two people.

Convenient for my one night stay. It seems a very popular, busy pub pub/diner. (car park full, was lucky to squeze my little car in a dark corner)
It looked like the food would have been good, and on another occassion I would have opted for the breakfast, but it had already worked out quite expensive for just a late overnight stay as a single occupant.
The pictures for this place were most bizarr, instead of showng the room layout it showed a kettle or some soap dispensers, so fixtures and fittings rather than the actual room itself. I hadn't realised it would have such a high wooden beamed ceiling, (like literally a barn) it made me feel a little uneasy as I have a phobia, so I had to just not look up in case I focused on something nasty. it aslo meant it smelt a little damp.
Also the TV! rather than being in front of the bed, was at the side! I never understand why hotels do this. I actually had to move the bed so that it faced the TV, and this was a much better arrangement, no reason for it not to be that way! I did put it back again afterwards, partly cos the headboard was stuck to the wall! but also cos I like to leave things the way I found them. Even though I'm certain the next occupant would have prefered it my way!
Dim lighting.
No shelf or hooks in bathroom.

The property is easy to find, on a main road only a few minutes from the city centre. The rooms were fairly clean and nice and warm. The bed was comfy and apart from a bit of pub noise, slept well (we booked single rooms).
The pub served really delicious food and the staff were friendly and welcoming, they were keen to check we were having a good time and to offer any help we might need
The room could have done with a few tea bags, there were herbal teas but I had to ask for a normal PG tips, I got the feeling the cleaner was a bit offended by my request. That was the only negative point, but very minor

Restaurant/bar had a nice atmosphere and warm welcome from host.
The room (superior!) was grim and not just from the lighting in the bathroom. The toilet seat didn’t fit, the door to the bathroom would only open with a loud noise. The lampshade in the bedroom was hanging off. The plumbing was very noisy. The noise from the road wasn’t reduced that much by shutting the single pane window.

Nice pub/ restaurant ambience
The restaurant is quite expensive for the type of establishment.
I didn’t get very much sleep due to external noise.

Comfortable room, great menu with local fish, meat and game, good choice of drinks, excellent breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. Plenty of parking. Bus stop right outside with good service to the city centre.
Being woken at 6.30 am by a noisy delivery. A large lorry parked right outside our window. Lots of clattering and loud voices.

Friendly welcome, comfy beds, excellent value for money. This was our second time here and we have had lovely rooms on both occasions.

Had an amazing stay great food, staff and room. An alarm was going off for an hour at 3am for nearly an hour and they deducted some money for the disturbance without any request. Definately recommend the property. We eat here quite often and the stay was as good as any other visit.

A convenient and comfortable stay when attending the Showground Antique Fair. The superb food was the main reason for coming back to the Red Lion and the staff made us feel really welcome
Brighter lighting would be helpful for pre sleep read.

Staff were very friendly. Plenty of pillows/cushions on the bed. Hot chocolate sachet in the room. Room was very warm on quite a cold night. Good sized room and bathroom. Shower ran hot.
Walls are quite thin...or at least sound carries very well so you can hear people talking in the next room and you can hear people talking in the pub downstairs.

The breakfast was excellent. The bed was extremely comfortable. Very friendly staff. Loved the beams.

Friendly staff, cleanliness of the room/ bathroom, breakfast was great, good size room and bathroom.
They also offered basic toiletries, tea/ coffee and an electric heater.
Due to the property being a bit old, the windows are single glazed. This means you can hear noise from the road (we weren’t cold as they left an electric heater - thank you!).
Also it’s a bit noisy/ creaky inside, depending on other guests that can be disturbing as well.

Location was great, very friendly staff, breakfast was very big and coffee amazing! I just thought with booking.com the breakfast was meant to be £12 but we paid £15 each It still very good value for money
As nice as oak beams are there was a lot of cobwebs! For someone arachnophobic it disturbed my sleep abit but I had to just try to overcome this having said this friendliness, location and food will bring me back again but we are going to upgrade next time!

Everything was enjoyable no negative feedback back at all the food was amazing also

Characterful period property. Comfortable bed. Lots of cupboard and drawer space. Very good quality breakfast with plenty of choice, although not included in the room price. Bathroom newly refurbished and spacious with a decent hot shower over the bath. Staff helpful and courteous.
Electric points in the room were difficult to access as they were behind furnishings.
4.0 / 10.0
Nothing particularly
It’s a small room that feels like a hut, not clean, spider webs everywhere and also felt very unsafe. Extremely awkward to open the lights and for the price they ask practically a joke.

The food and beer were very good - i'd recommend the fish pie
pub is very traditional so bar was a bit dark - not a criticism but different from nearby travelodge
