Maison Séraphine - Guest house - Bed and Breakfast

Delicious breakfast of pastries, fresh fruit, yoghurt and orange juice you could squeeze yourself. House is beautifully and stylishly decorated, with a playroom for children. Rooms were fabulous and typically French. Loved that we had an adjoining room for the kids, and that it was so close to restaurants/bars/cathedral. Pierre is also absolutely lovely.

The house is fabulous! Beautifully decorated in a quirky style. Very homely and comfortable. The children loved the play room. The area is very picturesque, and we were lucky to see the light show in the centre of the village during our 1 night stay. Pierre is a warm, welcoming host. Nothing was too much trouble.

Nothing to dislike. Parking was a little tricky due to the village being very popular at the time of our stay. Pierre was able to help with a parking permit for a nearby carpark, so problem solved!

Quirky accommodation, right in the middle of town so easy to walk to bars and restaurants. Rooms are large and decorated in an eclectic style, we loved it! Host very friendly and welcoming and provided a delicious breakfast. Would highly recommend.

The super friendly host, very kid friendly accomodation and a beautiful town! It was the perfect place to stay with our young children (4 and 1yr) in the region!

Friendly, amazing location, unique .

The hotel is housed in very old building and decorated with quirky and characterful vintage furnishings. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. The host was very welcoming and happy to provide ideas and recommendations. The hotel is within easy walking distance of Laon’s historical centre.

Great, central location in a really well appointed guest house. Our family bedroom aptly provided for the four of us. Very comfortable beds in well furnished, warm and welcoming connecting rooms. And our host, Pierre, was extremely welcoming and helpful with very good English.

Staff were very friendly and were exceptional in trying to make meet our requests. Excellent breakfast. Clean and comfortable room.

I can't think of anything I didn't like.

Position is excellent, in upper part of city and an easy walk to centre and cathedral. Quiet street. On Saturdays in summer they close off a section of the old town for festivities till 1am. Maison Seraphine is just far enough away not to hear the noise. Pierre is an excellent host Breakfast was great, with fresh fruit and you could squeeze your own fresh orange juice; Pierre even produced scrambled egg. The house is old and quaint but our room was comfortable and spacious with a good walk in shower. There does not seem to be a problem with parking right outside. We came by train. Take a #4 bus from the station and get off at St Martin, only 1.20 euro. Laon is well worth the visit with relatively few tourists. The cathedral is magnificent, must be one of the finest in France. Some good restaurants and if you want a lighter meal, try a platter from the Fromagerie des Remparts.

If you are below another room, as we were, you may hear people in the room above moving around. However this is to be expected in a house like this, it was not excessive and did not bother us.

The breakfast was exceptional but I would have preferred it if we would have been told about the extra costs.

The property, the host and the location were all exactly what we were looking for. A very French experience of the highest quality. The town is split into upper and lower town with all the interesting parts in the upper town which is also where the beautifully renovated historic house is, so perfect location. Pierre was a fantastic, happy and helpful host who recommended a lovely evening of wine and local food. We’ll be back!

Wonderful! Pierre made us so welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our bedroom was really beautiful and the house is charming. Breakfast was delicious. Such a lovely place to find.

We can fully recommend Maison Seraphine. It is in the heart of Laon, close to the cathedral, shops and restaurants. Our room was spectacular. It was spacious and well equipped with vintage and stylish accessories complementing the sympathetic restoration of the property. Pierre is very friendly and helpful, a perfect host. We decided to stay for breakfast which we enjoyed sitting out in the garden. The boiled egg was perfect!

Parking in the mediaeval town centre is difficult. Pierre gave us the name of a quiet road nearby to park in once we had arrived. Is it possible to receive parking suggestions in advance?

Pierre, our host was delightful, we were grateful also that he spoke better English than we did French. Altogether a wonderful stay. Our rooms were incredibly spacious and comfortable in a house that had its origins in medieval times. The location was very central and in close proximity to the Cathedral, bars and restaurants. Breakfast was traditional continental and delicious, with a range of cheeses, yoghurt, cereal, bread, croissant etc....

It was an exceptionally lovely little hotel, that was exceeded our expectations.

Rich in charm and eccentric character. Superb location in an atmospheric French hilltop town. Helpful and charming host.

We liked everything but the old narrow stairs won’t suit everyone.
