Stonegate Retreat

The apartment was lovely, lots of pluses. Very well equipped, it was very hot when we were there, so had to open doors and windows when possible. Cool fans were useful. Cannot fault the property itself

It was difficult to park nearby.. we did find a space across the road, but had to make a few journeys up the stairs, then across the courtyard, then more stairs. The main issue was the noise from No. 8. There were 3 children from about 5 - 12 who were outside in their back yard shouting and screaming a lot of the time, not what we expected! We were trying to watch Wimbledon, but had to close the windows. It was so bad, we decided not to stay the last night. The mother and one of the children were kicking a football constantly against the wall underneath the lounge window during that afternoon - which was the final straw. It meant we lost the afternoon and evening in the apartment as well as the next morning. We contacted York Stays and they did offer us a future one night stay at Stonegate and told us that it was the owner of No 8's grandchildren staying with them. We did not feel that we would want to go back to that apartment on the basis that it could happen again. A real shame. Never had an issue like that before and we have booked many apartments with Booking.com

We loved our stay in this fabulous apartment! It’s located in the center of York yet when you get into the complex you will be amazed that the apartments are in a very quiet courtyard! You are steps away from the famous Betty tea house and there are couple very cool soap and candle stores right across the street! The pictures don’t do justice for the apartment itself. The rooms are spacious, the interior looks new, the furnitures are comfortable and you are provided with plenty of utensils. Although it doesn’t have air conditioning, when you open the windows cool breeze rushes in. It’s very comfortable even in the middle of summer!

You have to walk a ways into the property to get to room.

Location was perfect and the facilities were exceptional. Good response from the company as we accidentally left items when we checked out but they were sent on to us promptly.
