Modern 2-Bed Apartment in York City Centre - Steps from Minster and Shambles

The hosts responded to all enquiries promptly and very courteously. They demonstrated exceptional customer focus and empathy. A delight to deal with. The apartment is clean comfortable and well maintained. The central location gives perfect access to all the sights and attractions of lovely York.

As is often the case a strength can also be a weakness. The central location of the apartment is wonderful but the cost of city centre parking at £29.50 per day makes the eyes water sonewhat.

Great spot right near shambles so easy reach of everything

That apartment we got smelt of cigarette smoke so not a good start really Luca who managed it said he was going to report it . He came over to re spray it again & to be honest I wasn’t happy at first because one of pe we shared with has asthma we did stay there tho coz no other accommodation &vhe did all he could to help us but very basic apartment plus had to wait two hours for hot water afta one of us had a bath . But all in all enjoyed York we wasn’t really in apartment that long so wasn’t to bad in the end

Very friendly and helpful staff encountered on site. Location is ideal for exploring York's central attractions on foot, and also reaching the Railway Station. The apartment is spacious and well served witj a separate bathroom for each floor.

Kitchen implements are the bare minumum and of poor quality. Furnishings are adequate but the apartment lacks character. Some maintenance is required, eg broken window latches, and the cleaning - though good - had avoided some corners.

The location was very central (although it was on a dodgy alley in a not particularly nice building and you had to walk across the roof outside to get from the stairs to the flat). We needed extra toilet rolls as not enough had been provided and the hosts brought some round that morning. The crisp white bedding was lovely quality. You can see the river from the kitchen window.

It really needs a thorough deep clean. The toothbrush holders were covered in someone else's old dried up toothpaste, which made me question the hygiene of everything and really showed a lack of respect for guests. The toilet brush holder was full of dirty water and my daughter accidentally knocked it over so we had to go out and buy Dettol to clean it up with. I understand that the flat is cheap but that doesn't make it ok not to clean properly before guests arrive. It also felt like everything was done in the cheapest way possible (apart from the bedding which was nice quality). It seemed like they had spent the bare minimum on every single item and therefore the flat was not comfortable or welcoming. It's fine for a place to crash at night but you wouldn't really want to spend the evening on the hard sofa in the kitchen. I noticed that a review on the other platform three months ago suggested some minor things to make it more comfortable, such as a hook and a mirror, but these haven't been addressed. It wouldn't be difficult or expensive to make such small improvements. It just felt like the hosts don't respect their guests. There was a ripped bin bag of rubbish outside the flat when we arrived and it wasn't collected the whole time we were there. Instead of an absorbent bath mat they provided one of those rubber non-slip ones with holes in so when you get out the shower the bathroom floor gets soaking wet. Also it says that kitchen basics like salt, pepper and oil are provided but they were not. The hosts/landlords rent out several properties in York so this is a proper business, not someone renting out their home for a little extra cash. Which is why I feel ok about giving this honest review. I realise now why it was cheap and I've learned my lesson.
