Sunshine Village Hotel

The swimming pool is very nice, we really liked the beautiful mountains and the view, the hotel is an affordable price and we had a spacious room with a lovely balcony - great to watch the sunsets on!

The hotel seems to be catered towards French tour packages, which means all the entertainment is in French which made us feel a bit excluded at times, but this wasn’t a big deal either. Maybe it would have been good to know though. Overall, the food and drinks were pretty limited and slightly disappointing. We ended up leaving the hotel to eat and drink a handful of times, which kind of felt like it defeated the purpose for paying for an all inclusive.

We stayed at the hotel for three nights. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The hotel staff were extremely polite and kind.Especially the restaurant staff worked very hard, were very kind, and I sincerely thank them. The food quality was also good, considering it was served as a buffet.I really enjoyed the breakfast. There were also two automatic coffee machines available throughout the day, so you didn’t have to wait long. The hotel is located on a hill. Every day, we went to the nearby beach. It is a protected coastal area with a pool and a water park, and it was very clean and pleasant. Since we enjoy walking, the uphill and downhill path was not difficult for us, even though we had a stroller. However, you should be careful: there are two routes to the beach—one of them is very steep and quite challenging, while the other one is more manageable. The towels and bed linens were very clean. On the second day of our stay, our towels were replaced, and the room was cleaned and arranged again.

The website mentioned that the hotel offers a shuttle service, but in reality it does not. You can only ask them to arrange a taxi for you. In the drinks area, I noticed several times that the glass cups were quite dirty. Sometimes I had to choose between dirty and dirtier, which was unpleasant. Our room had a lot of mosquitoes. On the first night, my son was bitten badly, and we had to deal with the bites throughout the trip since it made it hard for him to walk. On the last day, we realized that the reception provides electric mosquito repellents for nighttime use. Unfortunately, we found out too late, but we borrowed one for the final night and it worked well. The pool water was very cold, and in May we couldn’t really use the hotel pool because it was quite windy in that area, which made it feel even colder outside the water. However, at the beach and the nearby water park, it wasn’t as windy, so we were able to swim there comfortably. The children’s restroom behind the indoor pool had no water at all. All the signs and announcements for the evening programs were entirely in French. I enjoy experiencing different languages and cultures, so we still attended the shows because it’s interesting to see music and traditions from other countries—but we couldn’t really understand what was going on 😄 The only phrase I know is “Bonjour” in French!🤭

All inclusive, recently renovated resort village in Hersonissos Crete with great facilities. Only a short walk from the beach and 4 pools, if you decide to stay onsite. Check in was easy by the extremely friendly staff. Rooms are spacious and very clean with nice linen and a balcony overlooking the Cretan sunset. Food had a lot of choice in the buffet, including a large choice of cocktails and ice cream included! There is a very modern a la carte restaurant at the roof top veranda with amazing views to the beach and mountains and we were lucky enough to enjoy the full moon. Great for families and fun!
