Good location
Not the cleanest. Women on reception extremely rude. We paid for parking then she told us it was free should read the email. Then next day got an email saying parking is £5

The staff were excellent and are making the best of a bad situation, the room was lovely and warm and the water was hot
Really run down, area doesn’t feel safe after dark,I know it’s based around an American motel but not having phones in the room to be able to contact reception didn’t feel ideal for me,I have to wonder why there are metal shutters on the windows was told that rooms have in the past been rented by the hour

Stayed here before it's in a good spot
Not the hotels fault but there were a team of young women being a pain in the bottom making noise and banging on window

Absolutely nothing, this place is horrific
I’ve never had to write a bad review before and I’ve never checked in, seen the room and checked straight back out before but this place is absolutely horrible. Dirty carpet, battered walls. The rooms don’t feel safe and secure and overall it has a feel of a dirty rundown crack den crossed with a shifty dirty motel. If I couldn’t have found alternative accommodation for the night I would have rather have slept in my van. Luckily there was a Travelodge across the road that had free rooms and when I told them where I had just come from they laughed and said this happens a lot. As it turns out this place which is known to locals under what I presume to be its old name ‘the campanile’ has quite the reputation around hull. Everyone from hull I have spoken to about it thinks it’s hilarious that I booked that dive but me personally I just feel lucky that I got out of that room fast enough to not touch anything and not bring anything nasty home with me.

The staff when arrived where very friendly and had time to make conversation and help plan our stay further giving us helpful directions of the surrounding area. They were the people you want on reception to help make you comfortable.
Its under new management and I feel when finished it will.be more.modern and updated but I liked that they were great hosts.
Can't say much about what I disliked, its a hotel like a motel so you pay for what you get. I would say that they don't have a restaurant as such but that's not what we paid for as only a short over night stay...however when we went onto the small bar they did ask if we wanted any snacks so again they were very accommodating.
It's on a main road and although no sound in our room its something to be mindful of.

Shame as previously have liked location in town and proximity to amenities and travel.
Difficult to rate as staff were nice area manager however offered/promised an email with a reduced stay which never arrived following a disturbed evening with a heater that churned, then had to be turned off in night as thought it was burning. So a chilly night. Also sockets on work top did not work which I omitted to mention. So hence disappointing as she obviously isn’t true to her word.
Oh and passports requested which I find odd in this country.

Your bloke behind reception is absolutely fantastic gave us the same great welcoming as we use this hotel a lot
Room was absolutely spotless but it was freezing I know it was very cold out -2 but both my partner and my self had to sleep in clothes to keep warm needs bigger radiators or deffo won't ever stop again we asked for spare portable heaters but non needs urgent attention to heating as you will loose good customers

Nothing really.... Receptionist was kind of helpful though....
Wasn't expecting a motel style accommodation. Room wasn't very nice. Main hotel bar, if you can call it that, was closed.
Breakfast wasn't happening.... Receptionist apologised for lack of .... pretty much everything....

The checking in process is very quick and straight forward. I found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. The location is very much ideal for my needs for the time I stayed. For example I stayed for two nights, my job means that I can be out and about at strange hours, which is why this particular hotel was perfect...the rooms are in separate accommodation block and I wasn't disturbing the other guests. The beds were comfortable enough for me to sleep, so I had no issues there the facilities themselves were clean and tidy. I'm certainly happy to recommend this venue.
The only irritation I had with the hotel is the parking machine. Parking is paid for which is fair enough as this is a city centre based hotel and the parking can possibly be abused by non-visitors. The machine to pay for parking is just inside the door of the reception block, but I found it a pain to use and displayed incorrect information at times. For example, I paid for 48-hour parking, but the summary said I paid for 48-day parking. I was charged the correct amount for my stay, but this can be off putting or worrying for guests that are not used to this type of parking arrangement, also sometimes it didn't register pressing of the on screen buttons which consequently lead to me having to wait with a message asking me if I was still there and the countdown to reach zero before the transaction could be completed.

Stopped here many times when it was Campanile, 2nd time since Galleon took over, the service and the staff has continued to be excellent.
Friendly and welcoming as ever.
Have to say that the double mattress in the room we had (118) seems to have had better days, it seemed to creaking with every movement and you could feel the springs.

room ok / bed very ok / location ok - but always ask for a room facing INWARDS
the carpet on 1 side of room 7 was soaking wet - presume the bath/shower on other side of the adjoining wall leaked - & always try to get a room facing into car park NOT out facing the main road - which has heavy loud traffic & sirens all night long

The location
The apartment.
It didn’t smell nice ,
cobwebs right above the bed ( horrible experience)
The heating barely came on or stayed warm
Also one of the reasons I booked the Galleon hotel was the free parking that was clearly stated .
However, when I got to the property I was asked to pay for parking .

On the booking.com app it showed a £17 lower charge than what the transaction ended being .so it socks the joy out of it when you're on a tight budget

The current owners have only just taken on this hotel (as of November 2025) and I could see the staff were working really hard to make the transition and iron out teething problems. I have some physical limitations, but Mandy on the front desk couldn't do enough to make sure I was comfortable.
The room itself is basic but clean, and had everything I needed. I'm told replacement mattresses and pillows are already on order and due to arrive any day now. That will be a big plus point.
It was great to find that since my last visit (a year or so ago), breakfast has been reinstated! And very good it was, too.
The room description says there is a hairdryer in the rooms, but I couldn't find one.
When I got to breakfast I was told it was more expensive than it would have been if I'd pre-booked it. If someone had told me the night before, I would have absolutely pre-booked it! But they did give me free parking, so that cancels it out.

Location was good. Fairly cheap compared to others. Some of the reviews saying it's really awful are a little harsh. It is okay for a night or two. It is very basic but it's cheap so can't really expect alot. Parking is so good. £3.20 for 24 hours. WiFi was free and quick speed. It does need a refurbishment but it's under new management and they are aware it needs doing. Reception staff are friendly. Please sort the beds/mattresses first. If poeple sleep well, they won't complain so much of the decor or furniture. Lol
Bed wasn't comfortable. The springs were poking through. Other people that stayed with me said their bed was fine. So maybe I was just unfortunate. Only one thin pillow each. One of the pillows were really lumpy inside. And it's quite noisy as main road in front of room. So emergency service sirens kept waking me up but this isn't really something that can be sorted. I'm just annoyingly a really light sleeper so someone tip toeing past me wakes me up 🤦♀️😂

Proximity to the city centre Staff are always pleasant and helpful.
On arrival there was no hot water available and staff didn't know when it would be repaired
The hotel is looking very tired and needs a lot of work to update it. It is under new management and maybe this will occur in the future.

Bed could have been firmer but I slept well anyway.
