The lounge area and the rooms are pretty good
the kitchen doesn’t have a lot of utensils and it’s not cleaned

24 hour reception. Tge kitchen officially opens at 7 a.m., but they'll let you in early if you want/need.
Kitchen wasn't well stocked with essentials--there were no coffee cups, for example. No wifi in the rooms. I only found soap on the ground floor bathroom. Construction work going on. It's far from the train station.

This place stinks, they fry each day things and the smell reaches the whole building, your room too, it makes you vomit. Everything is a chaos and disorder. In private rooms there is always soap and a towel for hands, here nothing. The pillow was once a pillow, now is flat like a pie, maybe is time to replace it. The shower cap and cord are black of fungus, no one ever cleaned it probably, and thats health risk. And on top, mosquitoes!!

They let me check in early which was very nice. They also let me leave my bags therw after check-out time.
Decent location, 15 mins from city center.
Staff was very nice alltogether.
Bedsheets are ok.
It was the cheapest option so pricing was ok.
Very worn down, not clean enough; but the whole city is pretty dirty by default.
Breakfast is just until 9am, and it organised weirdly. The more expensive option (7€) with the eggs and bacon was bad.
The toilets are outside of the room and smell bad.
They are taking being frugal to a whole.new level, water in the shower is warmish at best, it can't be regulated not the heath, nor the automatic stop. Same in most sinks. The lighting in the room is really bad and in the hallways is non existent.
The walls/doors are so thin that I could hear music from 4 rooms away.
There ar not enough power outlets in the room.

Good location in charming area. It’s right on a canal, next to a lock.
Kitchen for self catering was disgustingly dirty on Saturday and Sunday. Staff cleaned it Monday. One working cooker, one working sink. Very limited cutlery.

The location was good, food average. Rooms need updating. It was cold in the room with no heating!
I turned the shower on to warm the room up & to have a wash, fire alarm went off by accident, the French lady sharing the room was extremely rude woke me up at 3am to complain that I had used the towel in the bathroom (which I hadn’t realized was hers)! The staff who spoke French sided with her and threw me out making me homeless essentially !

The breakfast that was included in the price was nice: two croissants and soms baguette. The shower worked well end the bed was comfortable.
The kitchen smelled horrible and the window of the room could open for only a little bit. It was 33 degrees outside and inside the rooms probably even warmer. Ventilation was not possible.

Not too far from the city centre, but that's the only positive I can think of.
Sincerely the worst accomodation in western Europe that I've ever had; even by eastern European standards it would be nothing but a shame and you can trust me that I am quite modest in my expectations and I do have a very broad sample of cheap budget hotel experiences to compare.
The main issue I see is that the room I had is advertised to have a private bathroom, which is a half-truth because it only has a shower and the toilet is shared; at the time of my stay the sole men's toilet in the corresponding wing was even missing the seat and it was shared by an overwhelming number of rooms.
Secondly, the wi-fi only works at the reception and there is no connection in the rooms, which is presently unthinkable in any normal hotel and it wouldn't even be too difficult to arrange.
Thirdly, all furbishment/furnishment is exceptionally old and spartan, crying for a complex renovation/replacement.
Next, the hotel is understaffed and guests are required to collect and submit their bedsheets after their stay on their own. The breakfast included is not a real incentive, as it practically consists of a croissant or a pain au chocolate with coffee, that one can get for 2€ - 2.5€ in any local café in the morning, presumably in a better quality.
Last but not least, unlike most cheap hotels where owners are normally trying to find simple ways to make the atmosphere more welcoming and friendly, this one is only adorned by warning signs, meanly reminding the visitors to behave as if they were little children, such as to press the soap dispenser just once.
To sum up, I can only say that I can see and deep down feel the greed of the owner, trying to milk the old facility to the last drop and pinch every penny in process and in turn, I feel nothing but hate and anger. At this point, even the private room that I had doesn't deserve to be priced better than a hostel bed and I if I couldn't pick a third option, I'd prefer a bed in any cosy hostel indeed.

The room for a single person is spacious enough,
the stuff at the reception is kind,
the location of the hostel - 15 min on foot to the centre of the town is great and a nearby walk by the river is nice with a cool park for youth to hang around and have a picnic there.
I' d prefere having toilet placed in my bathroom for a single person. It is a room for a disabled person originally so it has a seperate toilet though it has a shower which is good.

I accessed the location very easily, there was an upgrade available for little extra money, the stuff were very kind nd helpful to give it. Also the breakfast makes it value for money.
I guess walking back at night it feels a bit uncomfortable. Ask the desk from which street to walk back.

Friendly receptionist. Room is spacious and clean. Everything is basic - you have to bring your own toiletries, towels and hair dryer. Location is ok. 30 mins walk or 10 mins bus or metro from Rennes station. Easy access to old town. Breakfast is basic but I brought my own so not a big deal. The price is unbeatable. Maybe a bit hot in summer as there’s no air conditioner.
Nothing.

I stayed 2 nights & I didn't expect much for the price. It's pretty clean, but old facilities, plywood under the mattresses (bring earplugs). Wifi only works downstairs (not in the rooms) and didn't work for me the 2nd day. Good location, easy to get around, and a great price. If you plan to be out all day and just in the hostel to sleep, worth it. Not really a place to relax, though.

Not much at all to like
No Wifi really ongoing from reviews I read, doing nothing about it and poor breakfast. Very dirty place. Don't stay here, find somewhere else anywhere else. Cheap but for extra €5 or even €10 can do MUCH BETTER. Booking.com needs to start to screen these places, not just take the commission for booking.

the guy on reception was super nice
6.0 / 10.0
1. The rooms are relatively spacious and not very crowded.
2. Each person has their own lockable cupboard.
3. There is a communal kitchen
4. Breakfast is included in the room rate
1. The location is too far from both the city centre and the train station, and there is no metro station nearby, nor is it close to a bus stop.
2. The hygiene in the communal kitchen is very poor, the floor is sticky and slippery.
3. There is no toilet in the room, only a washroom and a shower room, and the public toilet is far away from the room, especially at night when you get up to go to the toilet.
4. There is no lift and you have to climb the stairs.

Very friendly staff, clean rooms, breakfast included, 15 minutes walk to town, left luggage at no cost.
Beds could have been less creaky

Affordable and near the city center. About 20-25mins walk to the train station. The breakfast buffet is good, especially the coffee machine. Water pressure in showers is good.
Old-school facility but still very much working.
