Castello di Crocicchio

It truly felt like living in a fairytale! We arranged our check-in in advance, and the owner’s mother welcomed us upon arrival. She was incredibly kind and gave us a tour of the magnificent castle. We were pleasantly surprised to find a picnic basket waiting for us in the kitchen, filled with breakfast essentials such as eggs, croissants, cheeses, cold cuts, and more. The fridge was already stocked with milk and juices as well. The spacious, fully equipped kitchen had everything we could possibly need: cookware, cutlery, a dishwasher, oven, hob, spices, and cooking oil. It was far beyond our expectations! The apartment has five double bedrooms, exactly as shown in the photos. Each room was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully decorated in a style that perfectly matched the charm of an Italian castle. There were also plenty of bathrooms, allowing all ten of us to shower and use the facilities without having to wait. Since the castle is spread across three floors, each family had its own floor, giving everyone plenty of personal space and privacy. Despite its size, the castle was spotlessly clean, with excellent towels provided for everyone and soap available in every bathroom. The location was also very convenient and served as the perfect base for exploring the Umbria region on day trips. When I booked the castle, I honestly wondered if it was too good to be true because it looked so beautiful and offered such incredible value for money. Thankfully, everything was exactly as advertised. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, and the unique experience of renting a private Italian castle was something we’ll never forget. I would highly recommend it to any group looking for a truly special place to stay!

A few suggestions for improvement: the mobile signal was weak, so a faster and more reliable Wi-Fi connection without interruptions would make a big difference. We visited during the hot summer months, and while the thick stone walls kept the interior surprisingly cool, a floor fan in each bedroom would have made sleeping even more comfortable. I would also recommend installing insect screens on the windows so they can be left open without letting mosquitoes inside.

Our stay at Castello di Cricicchio over the Easter weekend was truly unforgettable. We were a family of 10, and the accommodation suited us perfectly—spacious, comfortable, and full of charm. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by our host, Francesco, who went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. His kindness, responsiveness, and genuine care made a big difference and added a very personal touch to our stay. The castle itself is absolutely beautiful, with a unique atmosphere that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time while still enjoying modern comforts. Everything was impeccably clean and well-maintained, which made our stay even more relaxing. The location is also fantastic—peaceful and scenic, yet convenient for exploring the surrounding area. It was the perfect setting for a family gathering. We all had an amazing time and created wonderful memories together. We would wholeheartedly recommend Castello di Cricicchio to anyone looking for a unique and memorable place to stay.

The breakfast was nice. Served in baskets to be prepared by us. Varied and sufficient quantities, and attentive to our needs! Rodolfo the host was very helpful. He helped us find transportation and anything else needed and was always available!! The place is great for children who could run around freely. The surrounding landscape is beautiful!
