We loved exploring Salzburg! The monastery on the hill was magical in the snow.

Breakfast was nice and the exterior atmosphere was wonderful.

The interior was a bit stark. We hoped to have a larger bed, but ended up with two twins. The walk to the elevator was not easy to find and could have used better instructions to get there.

Best place to stay and great value for money

Perfect location with stunning views, beautiful walks and easy to get to the city centre, both old town and new. Only 15/20 minutes from the airport. Accommodation was spotless and super comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with huge amounts of choice. Lovely breakfast room which was spacious and clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. I would definitely choose to stay here again.

The hotel was really great. The rooms were simple but comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. We loved the short walk in the woods to get the elevator down into Old Town. The view from up top before getting on the elevator was incredible.

It would be helpful if reception stayed open longer in case we needed something. Thankfully we had no issues during our stay, but I'm not sure what a guest would do if there was a problem since reception closes at 6pm.

Relaxing and enjoyable.

The location was excellent with easy access to the old town, the breakfast was fantastic and the staff were great. I found it a very calm and relaxing pace to some back to do after a busy day sightseeing.

I felt very fortunate to have been able to get the last room on the location at the last minute !

The location was excellent for taking a hike to the Salzburg fortress / castle! The full breakfast was delicious. The host / manager was very friendly and had a great personality and very helpful with tips on visiting the town.

The room was comfortable. Very modest simple. I felt a little guilty that I was not pious enough to stay in a room like used by nuns and priests. The location is a bit of a hike from the town center but I really didn't mind the long walk.

A unique place to stay at the top of Salzburg. A hidden gem.

The property is a Catholic monastery so most of the facilities are basic although it has a TV and Wi-Fi. The staff at the reception were very friendly and helpful. Check-in was fast. Free parking on the property is available. Place is very secure and quiet. Excellent breakfast buffet. a 2 Euro per person is given for using the elevators that lead to the center of downtown below.

Room size could have been larger, and more electric outlets at the room desk for plugging in PCs, telephone chargers, etc.

It is a lovely property. The room was clean and quiet. The buffet breakfast was superb—good quality food and lots of choice.

Minor things: clearer directions to the lift that takes you into the city would have been helpful. It would have been nice to have been told there was a communal fridge in the hallway.

Loved every minute!

The location was brilliant. Less than 10 minutes walk to a lift that took you right to the centre of the old town of Salzburg. Although close to the city centre, it was a haven of tranquility and nature. Gardens were lovely kept. Breakfast amazing. Super lovely stay.

Very interesting and centrally located hotel to explore Salzburg

Very interesting location in park in central Salzburg but very quiet and almost feels rural, the hotel itself is an interesting group of buildings with a lot of history and character. Plenty of park/forest trails around the hotel for dog walks. The staff is very professional. The breakfast is excellent! Free parking next to the hotel.

The single rooms are very minimalistic and feel like dorm/convent rooms (especially the ones with only 'roof' windows).

Quiet location - lovely walks. Away from the hustle and bustle. Very peaceful. Quick access down to the city is via a lift that is 4 euros for a return trip - you might need to factor this in and buy a weekly ticket if you are staying for a while. There are steps down at various places along the walks that you can do. Typically, a good sightseeing walk from the residence and around the best bits of Salzburg centre will be about 20,000 steps.

No kettle in room. I understand this is not perhaps the way the Europeans do things but you can't separate an Englishman from his Yorkshire Gold !!!

Beautiful hotel overlooking a beautiful city.

Everything. It is a beautiful hotel that sits high above the city and has spectacular views. The receptionist and restaurant staff were superb.

Hidden gem

Breakfast was excellent. Location - well worth the difficulty to access. Without a car you need to pay to go up in a lift from the museum of modern art and then walk approx 10 mins. The lift costs approx 3 euros to go up or 4-5 euros return or you can pay 13 euros for the week of limitless times use - which i did even though I was only there 3 days as it meant I could go up and down several times in the day ie going back up for a freshen up after a days sightseeing and then going out back again in the evening . It is actually well signposted once you get out at the top of the lift but first time round it takes a bit to work it out but once you have done it once it was no problem. In good weather and with reasonable levels of fitness the trek is not an issue and in fact is extremely pleasurable / bit of an adventure. Views were wonderful. Staff were lovely and extremely helpful -especially the lady on reception desk. Nothing was any trouble.

Not really walkable late at night once the lift at the museum of modern art has stopped eg 9pm on Sunday the lift stops so had to get an Uber back to the hotel then.

The view of Salzburg from the top floor is amazing. Really liked the breakfast.

It was hard finding at the first time the stairs leading to the hotel. It might be a good idea to add a map with all the possible ascending points marked on it.

Quiet, comfortable, clean - we enjoyed our stay. Beautiful place! May be a bit spartan for some.

Great location high above the city and river below. Private and quiet. Breakfast was awesome. Rooms are fairly large and comfortable, and have everything you need, although they are not "fancy".

Not all wings had an elevator, so getting bags up and down was a task. Not a deal-breaker, since they have staff who will help you if needed.

A beautiful place on top of the hill over Salzburg. The accommodation was comfortable and the views fabulous. The roads up are narrow and the hikes into the city aren’t easy, but totally worth it. There is a wonderful breakfast.

Excellent for hikers or with a taxi

Very friendly receptionist calmed me down over a phone when I realised at the very last moment at about 17:30 that the reception closes at 18:00 - they did not need my ID at all, and sent me a code to a box with my room key. Very nice premises of a monastery, especially the outdoor terrace that can be used for breakfast with an excellent selection of cheeses and a friendly manager (a priest) stopping for a small talk with each guest. Very quiet at night as this is the sole facility in a forest on a top of a hill.

I liked about 15 minutes hike up the hill to this monastery, but this may be a challenge for non-backpackers (with a suitcase), or for single females in late evenings in a dark, resp. in winter (but a taxi can solve this easily for some 10 euro).
