Goldgasse Apartments de Luxe

We really enjoyed our stay in Salzburg and loved the unique character of this historic property. The building felt like an old convent or monastery, with beautiful old windows, exposed beams, and décor that matched the age and charm of the building. There were quirky details throughout, like what appeared to be old holy water fonts in some areas and deer antlers in others, which made the place feel full of personality and history. The location was incredible — we could easily walk to Salzburg’s major sights, and we felt very safe. We loved exploring the city’s history, St. Peter’s Cemetery and Basilica, Mozart’s Birthplace, St. Peter Stiftskulinarium, Stiftsbäckerei St. Peter, and taking the Festungsbahn funicular up to Hohensalzburg Fortress for the amazing views. The kitchen was well equipped, we enjoyed being able to cook, and the shower was great. Overall, the charm and atmosphere of this place made our stay memorable.

A little more communication from the host would have made the experience even better. I reached out with questions about the Salzburg transportation pass and also asked about a fan for the room due to the heat, but did not receive a response. Even a quick reply letting us know a fan was unavailable would have been appreciated. We stayed on the 4th floor and there is no elevator, so carrying luggage up the stairs was challenging, especially during hot weather. It was manageable, but future guests should be prepared. We also had two rooms, which worked fine, although we would have preferred one larger room together (I was aware of the arrangement beforehand). A short history of the building or information about its past would have been a wonderful addition, as the property clearly has a fascinating story.

The character, the consideration for fans/ plug points/ even shampoo and shower gel left / lots of tea and coffee / beds super comfy / super clean/ location could not have been better / absolutely fantastic

very hot - no air conditioning. bed not so good sunk in the middle and very steep and lots of stairs to go up. Not ideal for tourists with suitcases
