Sethera

* Sethera was in a lovely location and the town nearby was simply charming. * We did enjoy our stay in the petite upstairs apartment of this classic estate made now into multiple rental apartments. The space was cozy and pretty comfortable. It definitely had that classic European charm. * The estate itself feels quite secluded, being located at the top of a hill with surrounding trees and small gardens embellishing the property with rock paths and flowering wildlife. * Parking at the top of the hill directly outside of the home was well marked once we found it. Organized and directly located parking was very helpful for luggage. Check in code was easily accessed and useful. Simple checkout. * The view from the windows upstairs was incredible! Absolutely beautiful at sunset. * The view from the top of the hill was also spectacular! Definitely worth the short walk to the top of the property. So peaceful to find a quiet bench overlooking the countryside and a darling village wrapped in rolling green mountains and golden evening light. This should be a highlighted aspect of the Sethera experience! I found it by accident as I was enjoying some photography opportunities of the nearby mountains. Every guest should know there is a gorgeous view just a minute's walk up the green grassy hillside. Definitely spectacular.

* The location of the lodging was not easily accessed and a little difficult to find because the driveway was not where the address said it should be. We could not directly contact the owner to ask for further directions because booking.com does not allow access to direct communication. This proved to be a frustrating experience as we searched for the entrance for over an hour. The only way we found it was by looking up the hill and thinking the building up there matched the photo. But then we couldn't find the driveway because the driveway is not near the view of the home from the main road below. We also did not know if we could drive up the tiny road or which of the two tiny roads to take. We had to hike first to make sure which tiny road was correct and if there was even parking space at the top. This was unnecessarily frustrating because we could not contact anyone with direct questions in a moment of need. Air B & B allows direct communication which is gratefully used in such situations. Booking left us wondering with no answers or person to contact. Not in favor of using this booking website again for that reason. * Also the apartment could have been cleaned better. Upon arrival we had to take care of a lot of insect/pest control in each bedroom before enjoying our stay. Too many untidy bugs. * We used the laundry but it stained our white clothing with orange spots. Possibly due to the drier function we believe. The stains did not come out after washing properly at home. * The only shower was especially tiny. So we tried to fill the charming bathtub in the other bathroom only to find there was absolutely no hot water! At all. Possibly not plumbed for actual use? Too bad. It would have been nice to enjoy.

Location was great for what we planned. Briefing notes provided were useful.

The stove is a little dated but it worked. The briefing notes should have included directions to nearest convenience store. Carrying heavy luggage up the stairs was not fun but we did know to expect this.

Lovely views. Very comfortable beds. Close to lots of places and great walks. The grounds and wildlife.

Shower temperature was inconsistent. Cutlery hard to use as knives not sharp and folks rather small ( or at least a cpl)

Great location on the south end of Ambleside. Great park over the road which is right by the lake and also a really good pub

I’m quite tall and some of the doorways are small and I bumped my head quite a lot. We also had really hot weather so the apartment was very hot, even with the windows open. The addition of some fans would be very useful.
