A really lovely short break in Ambleside staying at Cornerstones

Cornerstones was a great property - perfect location in the centre of Ambleside with all of the local shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants on the doorstep. It was warm and comfortable with enough space for 5 adults to stay comfortably. Handy utility space which was good for storing coats and muddy boots. Previous reviews say the parking isn't ideal - we had two cars and had one in the Lake Road car park with the permit provided for the whole stay. Parking on the street outside was more difficult but we were lucky to get a space there part of the time. Possibly an advantage of visiting in November!

Some basic items missing from the house, cafetiere for example. Also we were asked to place linens and towels in black bags provided on departure, but none were there to use. There were no cleaning products either so we weren't able to wipe down surfaces etc. In covid times it would have been good for these to be here. Last thing - a note asked guests to leave logs for the fire if they used the supply provided, when we arrived the basket was empty but we did refill and leave a supply for the next guests on departure. All minimal issues which wouldn't stop us from going back.

Great place to chill out and relax

The cottage was spacious and very nicely decorated. Great woodburner and comfy beds

Heavily stained pillow ( with no protector) and duvet on the bed in the first floor twin. Stain also on the duvet in the 2nd floor twin. Very disappointed to find this on stripping the bed at the end of the stay Difficulty with the key box as the No.3 on the keypad kept sticking. The flush mechanism on the toilet in the bathroom was faulty/loose causing intermittent problems when flushing

Great location, lovely cottage.

Absolutely no chance of getting a parking space on street, short walk to Lake Road car park. But no need for car, loads of walks, shops, food etcin walking distance.
