The cottage was so cute and cosy! It had all we needed in terms of cooking materials, and bonus resources like a shelf full of books, another shelf full of board games, and some extra blankets and linens stowed in the bedrooms. It was in a great location, just a five minute walk from the start of Ambleside's downtown, with a gorgeous view of the surrounding mountains. It was also very near some hiking trails. Very affordable pricing for a cottage with so many rooms, each well-equipped with blankets, wardrobe space, lamps, flashlights, and vanities.
We had trouble connecting with our hosts about check-in time and about trying to recover some items that we accidentally left. They never responded to any of our questions and we didn't have a good number for them.

All bedrooms were very good, beds comfortable. Managed fine with the narrow spiral staircase. The toilet on the top floor was very useful, as we had the top double room next to this, while our other family were on the first floor with the separate bathroom they could use on that floor. The kitchen was very good, with everything we needed. The oven was very good. Pleased to see a lovely retro Italian espresso coffee maker for use on the gas hob, and also an electric carving knife for our Christmas Day meal. The open fire was a bonus, and was the main reason we booked the cottage in the first place. We could park two cars in the side driveway, but it is quite narrow for a bigger car.
No complaints at all really. We did get confusing mixed messages with different check-in/checkout times listed in different notifications on the Booking.com site. There was no contact with anyone in person about the booking at all, just what seemed to be automated messages, but this didn't matter in the end.
