Served it's purpose

Great location for Chiasso train station, a quite area, complimentary bottle of water offered.

Host was not the politest of people, seemed like I was causing an inconvenience, we spoke via the app prior to my arrival which, due to business would be late evening as agreed previously. Check in until 23.30, was sent messages on my phone to ask where I was and remind me that check in would close at 23.30 ( I arrived at 23.15 approx ), for check out I was told I could leave the key at the bar below which would be open early in the morning, upon the exiting the bar was closed so I had to return inside and knock on the owners door of another apartment up the stairs, leaving my luggage downstairs in the parking area, true it's nothing major but would have preferred to know prior to desceding the stiars with my luggage. The charge for "high speed" wifi is off putting compared to free slower wifi!

The room was very clean, but although an iron was listed on Booking, there was actually none available for guests — however, the hostess kindly lent us her own.

The price (140 EUR per night) is very high for a room with a shared bathroom. The location is not ideal for short-stay travelers — no shops nearby (the closest ones are 3 km away or across the Swiss border). The building is directly next to a railway line, so it’s quite noisy. The “view from the window” mentioned in the description doesn’t reflect the actual surroundings. The room was locked with a very basic key — a thin metal rod with a simple rectangular bit at the end — which provided little security and could easily be opened from the outside by the owner or others. Next time, I will probably stay in a different town near Como.

What is advertised and what it actually is, is two different things, some of the bathrooms did not have toilet seats on the toilets, the aircons did not work. The internet was almost nonexistent, after being told that they cater for business people. We requested single beds and then was told that the property was not informed.

Too far from the centre and not very professional

The room was clean and the bed was comfy.

I booked a room for a single person for 3 nights. During my stay, I asked if someone can sleep over for the third night before checkout. The owner wanted 60 euros to do that knowing that on booking, the room price is the same for 1 or 2 persons. He said he had to get additional towels which I said I didn't need, and make the other bed which was already made. Checkout time is too early and checkin time is too late. It's very far from the centre of Como, and it's hard to take any transportation to the facility late at night. Walls are very thin.

the wifi was not reaching my bed when I was trying to work from the room. the host doesn’t not speak english, it made it hard to communicate. the location is literally next to Switzerland so when you take the train you pay in swiss frank. as a solo traveler, i would prefer a hostel cause the community is more helpful. I also found the wife of the owner in my room without permission and I didn’t ask for her to clean

A great and affordable place to stay when working on Lake Como

The owner is courteous and my room and common areas were spotless and comfortably. The sheets and linens were clean and fresh.

A nice place for the night right outside of Como

The host is a superb guy - very helpful and kind. He set up 3 single beds for our 3 kids even though we booked only 2. Free parking and nice firm beds. Very nice building, quite even though it's right next to the railways.

Bathroom was private but separate from the room. The room was a bit small for the price we paid.

Giuseppe was very nice and was helping me out when I felt lost, was in touch via whatsapp all the time. This spot is great for a short stay, 8minutes' walk to the border with Switzerland. I really recommend it as a budget option when visiting Como Lake area :)

Basic property conveniently located right after passing the customs in Chiasso on the Italian side

This property is, as the name suggests. right after crossing the border from Switzerland to Italy, on the Italian side. In this sense it is very convenient as a pit stop, as you don't need to deviate from the itinerary almost at all. The owner is very nice and he accommodated our very late arrival.

The room and breakfast were very basic (one packaged croissant and coffee/ glass of milk per person). The bathroom and small kitchen corner were not in the room, but fairly close by. The parking space we booked / paid for was taken by someone else (but a solution was found on the street).

The room was located in an apartment with a shared kitchen and bathroom. That was not mentioned at all when I made the booking. Parking was charged with € 7,- which is ok, but it would be nice to know it before checking out. It would be fair to know all details before booking a room.

Warm and welcoming

Joseph Confine exceptionally friendly and accommodating, made me feel welcome from the first moment to the last. Location few minutes walk from station. Apartment warm and comfortable during the rainy days I was around. New, modern fittings in room and bathroom. Bathroom spacious and well-cleaned. Quiet and peaceful in my room, despite the place being fully booked and near to railway.

A good priced budget place to stay in an expensive area.

A very handy place less than 10 minutes walk from Chiasso station, through the border post, which is staffed 24/7 and unless you are stopped you just walk through. It is down an alley towards the railway. Joseph who runs it is very friendly and offers no-frills budget rooms at a fair price. Bus route 1 runs frequently from the bus stop within a few yards of the alley into Como, or there are fairly frequent local trains to Lugano, Como and Milano. Avoid the EC trains as they require a reservation and payment of a supplement. My room was fairly basic but has all that is required, sharing a small kitchen and bathroom with one other room. All spotlessly clean. Breakfast is croissant, jam, nutella spread, coffee, an apple, and orange juice, served in the garden or next to the small kitchen, at a time agreed with Joseph.

I struggle with firm and high pillows, and the one here was a bit difficult for me, but I got round it. With the window open you can hear passing traffic on the main road at the end of the alley and the trains at the other end, but with the window closed it is very quiet.
