Exceptional chalets on the water. Beautiful bird life.

Chalets are right next to the river. Very spacious, all chalets are 2-bedroom chalets. Easy to get our kayaks in the river. Beautiful bird life. So much to do. Lots of game on the reserve as well - buffalo, quagga, etc. Exceptional host, Johan, that checked us in.

My first 10/10 score, for a modern , well kept retreat on the Wesr Coast.

Just as nice as it looked on the photos. Spacious , neat, uncluttered , with all you need. Everything is of good quality and neatly maintained. We are birders and could see many of the available birds of the area from table and chairs on the bank of the river, in front of our unit.

The story of the guagga population here will stay with me for ever.we booked a game drive to see them

The location was outstanding. Just in the vicinity of the river. We loved the wood fired hot tub and internal and external braai facilities. It had a full size oven as well and a great fridge freezer.

A relaxing & peaceful stay

Stunning views onto the river, great bird viewing. Nice, modern kitchen with gas stove & oven. Good sized fridge. Had everything we needed. Indoor & outdoor braai, although indoor braai smoked a bit. Bedrooms are good size especially main bedroom, comfortable beds and ample cupboard space. Ensuite bathrooms in both bedrooms was a bonus. Overall layout of the house is very practical and well thought out.

Everything was good, except the small wood stove which needed a hinge fixed on the door, and it smoked a lot, so landed up not using it for heating. Owner said it would be fixed. The kitchen floor had not been swept when we arrived, but am sure that was an oversight.

Lermitage Game Lodge is a place that we will definitely visit again. This time for a longer stay. The unit is beautiful with stunning views in all directions. A person cannot describe the peace and tranquility that we experienced. Close enough to Port Owen for any items that may have been forgotten, but far enough away so as not to be disturbed.

Our cottage was just perfect, the views are amazing… I couldn’t get enough of the sunsets we got to see. The cottages are very spacious and the beds were so comfortable. Perfect destination to relax and unwind!

Divine Experience

What an amazingly beautiful place, so isolated and peaceful. We watched the Springboks beat the all Blacks in the comfort of this beautiful home. We had a barbecue fire lit and drank some great South African wine while we did do. What a magical evening. I would highly recommend this place. The owners Linda and Johan have the best of everything - furniture, bed linen etc

The place has potential, nice facilities, need to fix the showers and improve the roads!

Beautiful place, very nice facilities, would be even better if there was a kol kol warm tub built into the place. A bigger fire place would also be nice, its a bit small.

Unfortunately the unit smelt of wood smoke (the ventilation is obviously not good enough, there is a inside braai which I think is the cause of the entire unit smelling like wood fire smoke. We had cold showers as there was an issue with the gas geysers, the shower would go hot and cold, so for 5 seconds you have warm water and then ice cold. Really not ideal, the management tried to fix it three times eventually we gave up and just had a luke warm/cold shower. The roads also need some work, if it rains you can easily get stuck in the mud.

Misleading info , when booking you should be told there is no Wi-Fi and no hot water

Very spacious, airy and bright, super comfortable bed. Lots of windows

Wi-Fi non existent, also no cell phone signal, we were unable to work, very frustrating. There is only enough Luke warm water for one shower, certainly not enough if you’re washing your hair. At the end we had to choose between a quick warm shower or wash the dishes, you cannot do both.

A relaxing stay next to the river

A well equippped chalet on a beautiful property. The views of the river from the main living space and both bedrooms is gorgeous. The host are helpful and accomodating.

Unfortunately the Internet was down during my stay (technical difficulties). The access road could also be a challenge for normal (2-wheel drive) véhicles when it is raining heavily.

Lovely, tranquil, comfortable, interesting vacation.

Lovely location next to the Berg river. The lodges are spacious and very well designed with windows on all aspects to give lots of light and views over the countryside. They are well equipped, and very clean. The managers are keen to ensure that everything is very enjoyable. It is lovely to see the quaggas and other animals as well as the bird life on the river. Apparently, September is the season to see all the flowers.
